Can't answer your question.
I killed one with a nice 4 on one side and small 2 on the other, but he had somehow broken his leg and it was knotted and calcified around the break, and the broken leg was opposite of the small side. As I understand it there is often a correlation btw injury and antler growth like this. |
RE: Pic of Buck, the genes carry on...
This first buck was taken in 04 and entered in the contest. When I shot him I thought he was a spike on that side, actually he was a broken rack buck. He was 3.5 years old and would have been 130" buck, that one side almost went 60 inches.
His score for the contest was: 79 7/8 ![]() Now this buck I shot on my birthday, almost the last day of our season and it was a true spike on one side. 12.5" spike. I scored this buck for entering into the 05 contest. It's score was 71 1/8". ![]() You buck should measure into the 70's perhaps 80's with that extra tine on the one side. ![]() |
RE: Pic of Buck, the genes carry on...
A guy from our hunting party shot a, what I think was "mature spike" This thing had like 12-15" spikes that were thick. I would have probably mounted it just because you would think you will never see that again. It was a big bodied deer too.

Rob, too bad you couldn't take the left from the first and the right from the second. You'd have a pretty good Frankenbuck.;)
BTW, from those pics and your recent ones you can really tell you've gotten into shape. Way to go, bud. |
