Michigan, Most Improved Pope & Young Buck State!
Michigan had the highest percentage increase of any mid-west state for Pope and Young typical buck entries during the last recording period with a 38% gain from the last recording period. On top of that, the percentage of non-typical bucks taken in MI doubled for a 100% gain in that category to, which was also the highest anywhere. At the same time, known big buck states like IL, MO and OH actaully dropped, while KY, IN and WI had modest gains. When your the worst it is easy to improve:D

I think MO is going to continue to fall every year. An APR doesnt help when anyone, resident or non-resident, caN buy three buck tagsOTC and fill them all with 1.5 yo seven and eight pointers.

Don't laugh Bruce because that is what has happen:D

MI has a lot of Co-ops where land owners are working together and setting AR's and shooting the right number of does. Some of these co-ops are pretty big.

Lets remember these were land owners who decided to do this, no one forced them.

Yeah - Michigan is great alright! I saw 4 P&Yer's in 15 years! Sweet!

I pass more bucks in a single morning here in Iowa during the rut than I have seen in 15 years in Michigan! That pretty much put's it in-perspective!

Hunted the UP my entire hunting career (14 years) and have yet to see a P+Y deer. THe lower peninsula is producing some nice deer in certain areas. Hard to believe we are the most improved!
