ASAT Camo in REAL WORLD use?
 

Okay, so the search function does NOT work for me...not sure why but always gives me an error that there are no results.

Anyway, I was considering the Predator clothing but here in FL the temps are in the 80-100 degree mark and hunting is beginning next month and they do not offer a light weight Fall Grey or Spring Green suit so I was forced to look elsewhere.

I found the ASAT camo and I can't believe how ugly it is but I can't believe how well it blends. I hunt in Florida and the leaves rarely fall and stays mostly green. The area I am hunting has a lot of oak trees with little green vegetation where I sit (18' in the air). The ASAT looks like it would blend well with the tree and with any foliage cover I may have from a deer's view.

Does anyone have any pictures of themselves in a tree stand, approximately 15-20' in the air with a similar background?

I know you've asked me a lot of questions about Predator, and given your circumstances of being forced to hunt in such extreme temps, I think the ASAT is a very good way to go. I've got some buddies who'll just wear gym shorts and a t-shirt underneath the ASAT leafy wear when it's as warm as you described.

Last year I hunted with some fellows who were ASAT fans.

After a week of watching these guys melt into whatever background they decided to hunt, I became a believer.

I looked @ my Camo, a Hodge poge of shirts, bibs, BDU’s, none of which matched and decided to streamline my stuff.

Rather than buy all new light weight, middle weight, fleece and what ever

I got 2 leafy suits, one for 40 degrees plus.

One, one size larger that I could put a snowmobile suit under if necessary.

This streamlined my whole deal, saved a bunch of money and this Camo works everywhere I hunt.

For Florida hunting this stuff is perfect Camo, Light weight cool and blends in with anything.

Rob Smollack is NOT the founder of ASAT. Jim and Gary Barnhart invented ASAT and sold/ran it for over 10 years. Chuck Pensyl who now invented Enigma ran with the company for quite sometime until he had Rob Smollack invest and then Rob Smollack acquired the company. Nuff said.

I remember a time when my stepdad was wearing an asat suit top to bottom and when I went looking for him,I walked right past him and couldn't find him.He kept talking to me on the radio and telling me where he was at and even though I was just 40-50 yards away.I couldn't see him leaning against a tree and laughing at me.


I also like the predator stuff better than asat but they do not make a light weight cover suit and I want something to cover my winter bibs and parka that is mossy oak.It just doesn't work well in late season and I am not buying $400.00 clothes to replace them,especially when they work so well in the cold.

So it looks like I will be purchasing the asat leafy wear cover suit as well,if they are able to get a new supplier for the large sizes.

Wow, thanks for the great replys. Yeah Greg, I was asking you about the Predator and you were MORE than helpful and I appreciate it. If they made a lightweight set-up in the old style or even a cover suit, I would go with Predator.

I have PM'd buckeyebuckhntr and asked for pricing on this stuff...no idea how expensive or inexpensive it is but looks to be worth the cost. I was just looking at the normal stuff, not the 3d leafy suit, as I always thought the 3d suits would get in the way of the string on a bow but I guess not!

Keep the info coming and I will let you all know if I purchase the ASAT. Also, does the sizes run big or small? I wear a 38 paint (comfortably) and an L-XL shirt comfortably.

whitetailhunter, I spent all sunday (off and on due to heat)shooting with the my ASAT 3-D suit on just to reassure myself about the concern you bring up. No problem at all, in fact after looking at the headmask it looks like they took that into account when they cut and sewed it. Unlike the RT 3-d headmask I have which has leafs flowing freelyalong the cheek area where the string could possibly brush againstit theASAT mask is free ofany loose material in that area.Maybe I just got lucky but like I said it looks as if they thought that out in the design process. Not even close whitetail, go to ASATCAMO.com and take a look. I'm under the impression that ASAT offersone and only one color scheme and pattern. If buckeye can't help you out you can contact the ASAT folks vie phone and get some info, they are very nice. (Seeings howbuckeye is a dealer if hecan'ttake care of you then theirwebsite is probably going to say back orderd also.)

We used the ASAT while turkey hunting in the Colrado mountains this spring and it worked really well. Even out in the open, birds were not able to pick up the outline of the threat.

Buckeye gave me a great price so I'll just wait. Someone on ebay claimed to have some a couple of weeks ago but who knows you may buy it and then they tell you you have to wait until they get from ASAT?

buckeye gave me a great price but I was told 2 months from someone, not him and that would be too long so I did a little searching online.

They were $134.95 plus $8 shipping, not as good of a deal as buckeye gave me but I wanted to make sure I had them by opening day.

Holy COW!!! I just received my tracking number for my new ASAT Camo from RMA!!! Amazing!!! I have to say, I order a ton of stuff online and the last two purchases have shipped same day which rarely happens for me. First my RAGE 2 broadheads from Obsession Archery and now my ASAT Camo from Rocky Mountain Archery!

Ok, ASAT has made a true believer out of me. I took a similar shot the other day using the new AP on the ONLY tree that is in my backyard so this isn't really staged for either camo.

I take personal preference in asat camo because it blends in to everywhere i hunt. they were hard to have for a while because they were only cotton, then they got into synthetics a couple years ago and i got some of that.

I just recieved a set of first lite camo which is perfect for hot in asat that i ordered from www.bugsnbullets.com and wore them out hiking last weekend, because i just found out that first lite had been using asat. it was about 60 and cooled me off as soon as i put it on. it was the best investment ive made in a while for hunting gear. i got it in asat but i saw they had mossy oak and realtree too.
