Ive never trusted a chain, buy you a ratchet strap and we'll all feel safer.

I'd ditch the Chain and use a Ratchet strap or 2 in place of it.
I hang my Lock-onson a screw-inhook so they stay in place then I have both hands free to tighten the ratchet straps. I have an old harness I use just for hanging treestands with a linemans belt hookup.

I use a lineman's belt with two heavy D-Rings on the belt. I have a heavy rope with metal snap connectors with a slip loop so you can adjust the length for different size trees. I use 2 ratchet straps to secure the stand and a T-Screw to hold it up until I can get the straps attached. I recommend a strong rope as several years ago I had a nylon web strap purchased from Bass Pro break on me and I fell 20 feet. I found out I couldn't fly but I was very fortunate and walked away. The only repercussion is a stiff back that I didn't have before. Good luck and hunt safe.

A lineman's rig complete with gaffs and climbing belt can be found for just over $100 here:
Climing gear

Surely your life is worth that little, get proper gear.

Either with climbing sticks or tree screws. Is that what your asking?

Go to http://www.cabelas.com/ and them type Key Word Search: Climbing Sticks.
