How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
Tonight I shot geared the wayI will be hunting. I had on my fanny pack, binos, bugle, face mask, fleece jacket and gloves. Although my anchor felt different, (due to the face mask)I shot the same. I'm gonna shoot another 18 arrows geared up again in a few minutes. How often do you guys practice with all of your gear on?

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
Honestly....not very often. Warm weather hunting here.....I wear about the same as a 3D round. When it gets colder....I try to loose a few with the full garb on.....but I've never noticed a discernable difference. Last buck I shot last year....it was 14 degrees out....and I was dressed like the Michelin man.
No problems. Good idea to do it SOME, anyways...... |
RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I practice year roundand begin practicing with my actual set up around one month ahead of season.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
Hardly ever, though now that you mention it, I probably should. I've never used a headcover before, but will be this year......Prolly should practice some with that for sure.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I practice all geared up the week before the season starts. As the season progresses and starts to get cold. I shoot a couple dozen arrows with my cold gear on. As long as im shooting fine i dont worry about it.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
i like to try to practice with my gear on atleast 2 weeks ahead if not more

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I will start going full gear about 2 weeks before season starts. I always hunt with a hat on though, so I am always shooting with the hat on, and generally have the rangefinder around my neck.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
Not enough.....I use facemasks and it takes me a while to get used to shooting with them on, specially the fleece one. I think its more mental then anything. Same thing with gloves for me, not having the same feel on the trigger. I'll start practicing with the facemask and gloves on about a month prior.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
Rarely until season starts...just too dang hot. although, after season starts, I shoot each time I come off the stand in all my equipment.
|
RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I've been gearing up the past few weeks. Starting next week I am going to put my stand up at my Father's house (he has a huge oak tree) and I'm going to be fully geared up shooting down at 20 feet.
In order to get perfection you must practice over again and again. I can't afford to have put a lot of my time, money, energy to have it all done in vain due to a poor shot. |
RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I'm shooting a few with my hood on as of last week. A couple of weeks before the season I'll make some shots with my hunting clothes on. As it gets colder I'll add more layers and then usually wash them and put them away. Sometimes I'll practice during the season wearing similar bulky garments and adjust as needed.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I'll shoot with facemask and gloves on about a week prior to season starting. Then after season starts, each time I come in from a hunt I will rip a few arrows down range with all my gear on. At both my camp and my buddy Dan's camp where I do all my hunting we have a target setup next to the cabins.

RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I practice alot during the season also. I pretty much practice geared up for the weather at the time. I just started shooting out of a stand again. Season is less than a month away.
|
RE: How Often Do You Practice Geared Up?
I don't practice with my hunting clothes on.
