I've got some good friends in north Texas around Seymore and Archer City. I go out with them to feed cattle and do a little cowboy work on horseback when I'm down there. I got to tell ya'll that if you get off the main roads and start looking around the dry river beds that open up into wooded flats you will see more huge deer then anywhere. The problem is that there are huge ranches and many of them don't allow deer hunting. Only the cowboys who are signed on with the ranches are allowed to hunt them. Some of the others do allow leases but all the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$ from Dallas takes care of those.

Along the east edge of the panhandle, places like Wellington, Childress, Shamrock, Canadian, all in through there. Stay down on the rolling plains, and not up on the high plains (stay down off the caprock). There are plenty of these "200 pounders" up here. I should know, I have lived in wellington most of my life.
