How do you keep you close as scent free as possible?
I first wash them in scent killer laundry detergent then hang them outside to dry then I put them in a runnermate tub filled with walnuts, dirt and leaves. I let them sit for about a month before season. Then right before I go out I spray every square inch of them with scent killer. Whats your way of making your clothes as scent free as possible. Hopefully I can learn a few more tips from you guys.
Thanks Die Hard 31 Days! |
RE: How do you keep you close as scent free as possible?
I use alot of scentlok or scent blocker clothing, so once washed I hang dry them then have to activate them in the dryer, after that a good spray down before they go in an air tight container. My non carbon clothing I treat similarly, I try to wash my hands in scent killer type soap before I handle my cloths and usualy dont put them on until Im at my hunting location and out of the truck and take them off and store them back into the container imediatley after the hunt. Ive seen guys cooking breakfast, running a chainsaw and similar activities in their hunting cloths. Ofcourse to those guys all that scentlok and scent killer stuff is a gimick.

I use BaseSlayers and Coveralls....both ScentLok.
I NUKE them at the local laundromat (first putting about 1/2 cup of baking soda in the dryer and letting it run for 10 minutes or so), then put them in a Rubbermaidtub. Socks, extra winter layers, etc...... Wash with scent-free detergent AND baking soda (in both the wash and rinse cycles). Dry in home dryer (again, after my baking soda routine). From there they go into a plastic trash bag, and then into the Rubbermaid tub. Spray everything down with homemade scent killer (including tree-stand harness, bow grip, release, etc.) once I'm dressed (in the field...never at home) and ready to head into the woods. |

I do what all the others said, but I also picked up a container of activated charcoal, the type used in fish aquarium filters, and make a sock out of some cheese cloth and make several charcoal balls which I put in my rubbermaid container. The charcoal can be found in the fish/pet section at Walleys. Don't know if it helps, but it can't hurt.

Same as most of the above, butI like to keep all my clothes, ect. in the Scent Safe Travel Bags afterI wash and dry them.Like to line dry them when possible, but if not,I use the Hunters Specialty dryer sheets, and also spray clothes down with homemade scent killer before putting them into the dryer.I even spray everything down before hanging them on the line.

Scent free means scent free. I don't add any scent to my clothes. Gear is a different story. If I do use one it's wood smoke.

RE: How do you keep you close as scent free as possible?
I wash everything I wear in the washer with tons of baking soda and when I throw them in the dryer they're all still damp as hell so I throw another box of baking soda in the dryer with them . As for me I just take a shower with non-scented body wash and of coarse use scent killer spray but I make my own .

Of course, as scentfree as possible.
