Anti Hunters!
I'm getting tired of these stupid anti remarks!! We are freaking hunters! We are not politicaly correct! From this moment on I'm going to tell every single person that says, YOU SHOULD NOT HAVE POSTED THAT, IT'S FUEL FOR THE ANTIS, just how sissyfied the statement sounds! We should stand up against theantis and we should do our part as ethical hunters, but we don't have to be a bunch of pansies!!!!! JMHO

RE: Anti Hunters!
Okay, having said that, I have never been afraid to offend an anti hunter, they are pathetic and there is nothing from them that I am that worried about. I am however not out to offend non hunters. There is a huge difference and we still need the non hunter on our side, not theirs.

RE: Anti Hunters!
Hunters need to wake-up. I'm not really sure where why you think we are not politically correct? We are probably the most politically correct group out there. We defend the constitution with our actions and still try to keep a hold of tradition through hunting.
You've been listening to too much Uncle Ted or something!!! We have to get the non-hunters on our side of the fence or we will loose this war. Antis look for small battles that they can use to get the non-hunters to vote on as well as issues that are a disagreement within the hunting ranks. We can't march around telling everyone if you don't like it kiss my a$$. And the antis are more web savy then most older hunters seem to give them credit for. It's sad to say it but we are loosing hunters do to peer pressure and the PC age. My eyes opened up about just how bad things are when i moved from western pa where everyone hunted to Baltimore MD where I am the only hunter in my office and most of the people used to look at me like I was strange. I proudly talk and defend what I do and they respect me for it. I proadly have the picutre that in my sig posted on my cube wall and don't hide the fact that I hunt from anyone. |
RE: Anti Hunters!
I do not think I offend non hunters by telling them I am a hunter. It is the antis that are offended.
I look at it like religon. If you are of a certain religon (christian, muslim or whatever)that is fine. Just don't try to push it on someone who does not want to hear it. Same goes for hunting. If they ask about it, tell them all about it. If they don't ask don't tell...Just my weird way to look at the world we live in. |
RE: Anti Hunters!
I think we're losing hunters because it has become so commercialised and it has made hunting very expensive.Lets face it hunting on public land is no picnic.lands like the wma and refuges make it almost not worth the effort. The leases have become almost too expensive for the average hunter and then they look down on other hunters who don't practice what thay do in regards to antler size.On one side of the mouth they hunt for the meat and pleasure of the hunt then from the other side of their mouth they saw we should not shoot anything but trophy bucks and doe management.Hunting deer is hunting deer wheather a trophy buck or a doe or a smaller buck.Don't get me wrong I get way more excited by large headgear, but don't blast me for shooting lesser deer because I get a thrill from that also.

RE: Anti Hunters!
The uninformed liberal anti will continue to be just that. Short of divine intervention, they are not going to change their toon, and they are about the most passionate motivated people their are when it comes to pushing their beliefs and rights onto you. We, as ethical hunters can continue to stick together, but we tend to be people that want to do are own thing, and not bother anyone else. Pretty much the opposite of the anti. It will always be an uphill battle. Here in Idaho, archery hunting is getting a bigger and bigger following because of the great opportunities, and freedoms. The most passionate and motivated group of hunters here appears to be the archery crowd. Muzzleloading will most likely be a thing of the past before long, at least as far as special seasons go, due to the lack of passion and dwindling numbers of muzzleloader hunters. All we can do is continue to fight the good fight, never be afraid to state our opinions, but wait till the correct open forums present themselves. My wife happens to be a non-hunter, not an anti, so I deal with these arguments all the time. Always take the high road on this debate, don't give into the petty side of things, and things will work out just fine. This is, and always be, my belief. Hunt ON!!

RE: Anti Hunters!
I misunderstood what Bryan was talking about and want to back peddle a little bit after reading his response to my post.
I'm in agreement that we should be able to have fun in here and bust each other's chops without worrying about anti's. It's easy when you are having on-line conversations for people to misunderstand each other and respond with out knowing the whole story. I personally wish I showed even half as much passion protecting our sport as I do participating in it. There are a lot of non-hunters that have no problem at all with what we do. I'm a single guy and I'll go on ates with women who are non-hunters and one of the first things I tell them is that I hunt and fish and love doing it. the surprising thing is that even women who do not believe in hunting have no problem that I hunt. now, maybe they are just saying that because they are single and trying to get their hooks in me and maybe change me. Or, maybe they actually have no problem with hunters but everyone around them has been telling them from an early age that hunting is bad. When I ask them why they do not like huntingI haven't had a single one actually come up with a good reason and they actually look at me a little confused. Most just say, "I just don't." I believe that people in general can be sheep. Going through life believing in things without ever wondering why. I believe that most hunters are the opposite of that. We know why we love to hunt. In general we have more passion for wildlife than any anti hunter ever will. we show that by paying for most of the Refuges, State Parks, State Game Landsand Wildlife conservation areas. I think Tred Barta is a little wacky. However, if any of you watched his Moose hunt this past weekend he talked about the anti's buying hunting camps under false pretenses and turning them into refuges. They buy the land tax free using our money most of the time with grants. Now isn't that a kick in the n#t$? |
RE: Anti Hunters!
My thoughts exactly. We have to stop being PC and stop giving them ammunition to keep coming against us.

I had a 54yr old lady ( non hunter obviously )give me a right talkin too when i turned up at myhunting ground withmy camo . HER WORDS ... how can something sobeautiful do somethingso horrible , likekilling animals . So after thanking her for the compliment ( me beautiful ... ) , i explained why i hunt and kill animals and that certain animals do damge to crops and ground . I also told her that i usually eat what i kill , so i'm not hunting for pure pleasure . After 40 minutes of chatting , we actually came to an agreement and she even asked what rabbit and squirrel taste like . Its all a matter of how you speak to people or approach them . Amen :) |

I'll just look at them and ask "what's in your lunch bucket today?"

RE: Anti Hunters!
I'd like to add something. I'm of the younger generation of hunters, and like most of us our age, we were raised to hunt. Our fathers, grandfathers, and so on took the time to take us out and share the outdoors with us so we too can experience what they did. But not everyone has the oppurtunities I've had to hunt growing up, I've just made it a point that whoever I can teach about hunting, whether younger/older-hunter/non-hunter etc., will make us stonger as a group. (Justthis past year Igot my buddy to start hunting at the ageof 20, and he loves it.) Hunting is a passion of mine that I will forever hold as my time with nature and God's creations. I have, and will always stand for what I believe. What baffels me, is that the amount of people think that hunters just go out in the woods andkill animals. They don't understand the conservation part or the amount ofknowledge and respect we gain for wild game. It's our job to inform them.Enjoy our rights....ourpassion, our religion. Stick together, cause no matter how different we might all hunt we're still all related!

RE: Anti Hunters!
i think they should open a season on the antis lol

RE: Anti Hunters!
I can understand were the anti,s are coming from . They talk about animals and nature ,but you have to realize that 90% of what they now about animals and nature is seen through a car window or on tv . Not spending countless hours in the woods hunting , scouting , and seeing wildlife up close . So yes , I can completely understand were they are coming from .

RE: Anti Hunters!
didnt read this whole thread...it got legnthy...
but skimmed and read luckydogs post in the middle... i can relate...one forum i visit got so bad that i couldnt show blood and guts. me and a couple other guys were having fun, being guys...showing off what different guns and bullets will do to a groundhog. sure...we posted pics of some turned inside out...but thats reality. we got told that our blood and guts pics werent allowed to be posted any longer. we always put warnings on the titles..incase anyone DID NOT WANT to see blood and guts...come on...i just dont get it....them antis can pay the farmers for broken equiptment and livestock that has to be put down due to busted legs caused by groundhog holes... |
RE: Anti Hunters!
My take on this issue...As much as I would like to say we Hunters are holding our own in the political world, I believe that the slow and methodical moves that the anit-hunting groupsdo against our sport are going to become even stronger. There seems to be more and more people against us getting into positions that rule this land. There is much more at stake here than just our right to hunt.
If you look at some of thevalues and beliefs this nation once had and look at it today. I dont believe I need to explain the vast differences. If you look into the laws for other countries such as Canada and Aust. and how they gradually come up with law after law until one day their people woke up to the fact that they could not hunt nor could they even own a firearm. If you can not see we are going down that same road then we too one day will wake up and say what just happend! NO I do not say tell them to kiss off neither do I say cave inor catter to them. I think we are in a position in todays PC that we will have to play their game but also stand for what we believe in. If the can say what they mean and not expect to be hasseled over it then we also should do the same. I do not mind if someone does not want to hunt but when it comes down to it I dont want an anti telling me "Your not allowed to hunt becouse I think it is crule." |
