RE: ScentBlocker Suit???(Has A Smell)
is everyone forgeting the number 1 rule of hunting-keep the wind in your face. i don't believe in the suits. can't afford them anyway. so i use the spray, hunt with the right winds for the stands i have, and if it changes while i'm hunting i leave instead of ruining a good stand sight. ya'll know these so called pros on tv get new stuff all the time. all the carbon stuff works best the first time you use it then in slowly becomes contaminated with human odor. lets see, you dry in the dryer for alittle bit then hang it outside to dry? is it not absorbing outside odors while its hanging out there? everyone has an opinion and this is mine. if you like use it, but lets not forget the wind and just hunt. ya'll know that hunters of old, me included, killed plenty of deer before all this stuff came out by keeping the wind in our favor. yeah, i know, wind swirls and then there are thermals, but with 30+ years of huntin' behind me i have learned a few things.

All I wanted to know is if it has a smell.I appreciate the opinions but I wanted a suit so I got one.Hunting is my hobby.I love it and everything about it.Wether you think it works or not I wanted to buy it and mess around with it.I know I'm stupid for wanting one but I'm sure the ol'timers use to say the same thing about those "sprays that make your scent go away".

ORIGINAL: Browning_1 Ino longeruse the stuff anymore but I know that the carbon actually does have a smell....It smells a little like wet paint. All suits I have smelled have the same exact wet paint smell. |

JE Your not stupid for wanting one. Many of us(bow and gun hunters alike)get lured into buying the latest product to ensure our chancesfor success. I know I did. I bought a scentblocker suit last year before my trip to Ill. I couldn't tell you if they work or not, but I can tell you thatmine has afaint oder to it as well. I have thrown it in the dryer numerous times for 30 min. to start the so called "re-activation process". Again, I couldn't tell you if that even works. If anything it gives a false sense of security along with a stylish pro-bowhunter look:eek:(the big scent blocker patch on the chest makes it official[8D]) One thing is for certain...... The best sense of scentsecurity is having the wind in your face. |
RE: ScentBlocker Suit???(Has A Smell)
I still hunt with the wind in my face and go about it the same way with any other clothing.I don't just put the suit on after taking a shower in regualr soap and figure I'm superscent free and can do as I please and hunt in any wind. But I figured it would'nt hurt wearing one after taking all the other scent free neccessary steps.I'm not saying these things work like they say they do but I wanted to try one.It sucks when you spend good money on something and people want totell you how you got ripped off.I could understand if I asked your opinion of the suit and wether or not I got ripped.Just wanted to know if it has a smell.

I have a ?
For those who hunt with the wind in your face, when it swirls do you spin around? When it changes directions do you moveto a newstand, or change the directionyour face is pointing? What happens when there is no wind? You can not hunt, because there is no wind in your face;) |

You can not hunt, because there is no wind in your face;) Unfortunately the location isin NJ. Most of my set-ups are facing the West, although I have two stands which face East in case of a front, which in most cases(front)winds will come in from the East or Coast. No wind?.....Heck that's a good thing, but if it does kick up chances are it's coming from the West, at least where I come from. So I set my stands up accordingly. If the wind changes and my scent is blowing in the direction of runsor where I believe a buck will cross, I will get down and go home or go to another set-up. If the wind changes do Ispin around?.....No, but if I turn my hat and where it backwards on my head that usually will do the trick.;) |

Folks also seem to leave out thermals and how they work. If you have a rising thermal you can get away with murder. If you havethermal pushingdown andyou are in a bowl type spot, youare pretty much busted. I just laugh at the "Hunt the Wind" comments, because there is so much more that makes a person succesful. It is a piece of a very big pie. Important piece I agree with 100%. |
RE: ScentBlocker Suit???(Has A Smell)
Hey Bama....try not to listen too closely to those who offer harsh opinions (you cannot teach an old dog new tricks):D..........i have a few suits and have not smelled anything that you are referring to..........put that article in the dryer and set it on the highest heat setting possible and dry it for the longest duration possible......see if that helps.....
