Nebraska mule deer

Anyone ever hunt mule deer on public land in nebraska. I'm interested in the Ogalalla National grasslands, Pine ridge National Forest or the Nebraska National Forests. I understand a non-resident can purchasde an archery deer tag "over the counter." Any info would be appreciated.

There's some pretty good bucks on the grasslands. Different kind of hunting because of the open terrain, but spot and stalk works well. Bowhunting either forest can be tough as they can see under the trees and it's hard to pattern them for a stand. Good Luck

I'm more of an eastern Nebraska hunter so my only recommendation is to post something on the Nebraska Game & Parks Forum and see what the local bowhunters say for the out west hunting.

Yes our archery deer permits are unlimited and for the whole state (not zone specific) so you can just pick one up on your way out into the woods. You can also purchase them online over the internet.
