Weird Day Scouting
I went out today to scout aroundand check my trailcameras. I was sweating everywhere cutting limbsand thenImarked off a30 yd radius around my stand. Ithen dumped somecorn andthen hopped back on myatv to leave. As I starting the engine Isaw three deer within that radius.I couldn't believe these deer would still walk through that area with my scent everywhere. Of course they flaggedwhen they heard theatv but I was wondering if any one could explain itorwas I just lucky to see them at all??

RE: Weird Day Scouting
Last week was the first time that I dumped any corn. So It wasonly the second time I wasin the woods. Just makes mewonder if all the scent killer I'm buying is worth it.

RE: Weird Day Scouting
It sounds like those deer might be used to x amount of activity in your area, perhaps? Maybe curious? Where I hunt, they would have been gone!I hunt a State Park where there issome activity, but they don't hang around at all.:D:D

RE: Weird Day Scouting
deer are very tamable they probably been patterning you with the corn

RE: Weird Day Scouting
Thats a common occurance for me. I believe it all has to do with how much interaction the deer have with humans on a daily basis. The deer in my area are constantly seeing, hearing, and smelling humans and over time they have let up their guard a good bit. Scent control, camo, and noise aren't as critical of a part of hunting as other areas. I have been out riding my quad on the property and I can drive past deer at 15 yards and they don't have a care in the world!

RE: Weird Day Scouting
Deer are like that where I live to. I have a doe and 2 fawns that bed right in our back yard and I get to about 15 yards from them before they even walk away. I throw out some corn for them to and they are usually out in about 15 minutes eating it, and they even watch me when I am in the yard shooting my bow.

RE: Weird Day Scouting
I have drove up to and past deer on our farm tractor because they aren't that affraid of it and associate it with food, minerals and or tree cutting...now the minute I stop itand get off the tractor they know its not a good sign.Same goes for driving the old farm truck,it doesn't bother them until you stop and get out the door! ;)
