How Much $?
I know the question of how much we spend on hunting has come up before (which I didn't reply to for fear "someone" might browse my posts and catch on to me);).
I was interested in what you guys spend on licenses and other fees (i.e state/national forest stamp, public land permits, etc). I just got my: VA Resident (Big game, archery, muzzleloader, national forest $ 76 NC Non Resident (Non resident hunting, big game stamps)$140 Area Permits (two military bases) $25 x 2$50 That's $266 and I haven't got my VA bonus permits ($18) or my NC Wild Boar/Bear stamps ($120 yet). That will be another $138, plus the$266 for a grand total of $404, and I haven't left the house yet. Don't get me started on gas andChesapeake Bay Bridge TunnelTolls. Oh well you got to pay to play, I will stop whining now. Are other states just as expensive as far as Resident and Non resident stuff? |
RE: How Much $?
$45 for license.
I can not comment on other expenses.....I plead the 5th.;) |
RE: How Much $?
Don't feel too bad. Just to get a single non resident elk tag in Colorado it is now over $500. If you alsowant to hunt a singlemuliethen there is another $300. And of course you want a single bear tag as plentiful as they are getting out there now for an aditional $251. So we are at about $1050 before you even get on the road.
And don't get me started about all the tolls getting out there and back and the price of gas. ;)And then add on the guide fees and prices if you aren't going to DIY. Quit Whining!!!!!!!!! ;):D |

I spend just over 100.00 for my sportsman package.. which includes, one bear tag, one turkey, one whitetail deer, one elk tag, steelhead/Salmon fishing permit etc.
Then I spend 16.00 on my archery permit.. ( I think thats what it still is) Oh, I need to buy an archery antelope tag before next Friday too! Then, if they have any left over non resident deer or elk tags, I can buy an additional Deer tag for 255.00 and elk for 348.00 ...I think my extra bear tag is pretty cheap too.. like 10.00 NDwhitetails withTimthis fallwill be over 200.00 plus the flight ticket..400.00 |

RE: How Much $?
Maryland is around 45.00 after you buy the muzzleloader and bow stamps.
Then to hunt any state parks or lottery hunts you have to buy the managed hunt permit, that costs 25.00. So I pay 65.00 total. I forgot about the bonus buck stamps. They are 10 bucks and you can buy 3 of them and they are good for any weapon so I usually only have to buy one. So 80 dollars total. |

RE: How Much $?
This is the start of my 51st year of Bowhunting. I have Bowhunted 2 provinces of Canada, Colorado & New Mexico at least 25 of those years & Wisconsin like it was my home state (non-res fees) plus MAryland, N.C., Ark.,Ill., Ia., Tx, Ok.,Mn, La., Ms., & probably some I have forgotten.
I would say "I wish I had it all in a pile in front of me (the $$$) but the experiences I have had are priceless. In June I spent a total of around $500 just to Bowhunt in 95 degrees for a single hog. I am fortunate to e able to have done all this & hope you all may have those chances if you so desire. Just take care of "Family" 1st. My "MOST EXPENSIVE" Bowhunt was when I took my son at the age of 16 Caribou hunting in Quebec-total back then was about $7000 (now probably $10,000). We have some great Caribou mounts but the experience was great. I am glad I was able to share that with my son. I worked in a steelmill then (retired now) & I worked EVERY hour of overtime availablethat summer to do this-I "LIVED" in that mill for nearly 3 months, so I earned that trip, for sure. Good luck & if you can afford it, do it. Don't look back in years gone by & say, I "could" have done that...Sorry, got way off track. |
