Default help with the SEARCH FUNCTION

Someone please explain to me how to use the "search function"

It seems no matter what search term I use or whatever I select as a search criteria, nothing ever comes up except "The system could not find any record." I tried experimenting by changing all the search "options" around and got nothing. I tried searching specific forums followed by "all forums" and nothing. Heck I even instructed the search engine to go back a whole year and nothing!

And what is this deal under the box designated for search by author that says... "you can use wildcard after author name, e.g. sam%, but not %sam" What's this mean? Are there search instructions somewhere that I could not find?

I made sure that I was logged in before searching too. Please help. Thanks in advance.

Limit your search to a particular forum and to 1 year.

Tried that too.

Could someone try searching something and letting me know exactly what all the search criteria was so I can try it and see if it works for me? Ifitworks for you but not for methen I think there has to be some software with the search function that is incompatible with my 1950's computer.

You have to be patient and let it search for a bit, it will eventually pop up. The built-in search sucks, but it does work.

Steps 1 and 2. Success!

I think I figured out why the search function didn't work for me the past couple days I've tried using it. I believe that during peak hours, the site isn't able to keep up with the demand from the members or just from the sheer volume/traffic that the site is getting.

It's a little before five pmcentral time now and the search works fine irregardless what I enter as a search term. I'll try again later at 7-8.

Justin, I apologize for poking fun at the search function in another thread. I realize now that it was either the volume or my computer's inability that had all or some to do with me not being able to search. And thanks for giving this consideration.

The ONLY way I can get the search function to work is to limit the time to 6 months. I have tested this theory out and sure enough I can put the same criteria in but if I look past 6 months it comes up with that same old "The system could not find any record." BS that your getting.

It is definitely not working like it shoud/used to and is hasn't for some time now.[:@]
