My friend has a dilemma
 

I was going to let him shoot my old PSE, but after looking it over, both limbs have a nice crack going right down the middle of them.
So first off I am just wondering if there is a way I can get a cheap set of new limbs?

Then we go to Gander Mountain to look at some bows. He picks out a Diamond Liberty? I think was the name. He tells me to shoot it because he has never shot a bow. So I shot it, told him it felt good. I told him he has to try out the bow if he is going to buy it. So he draws back and THWAP the damn thing came apart on him. We don't know what the heck happened.

So my 2nd question, if new limbs are out of the question. Is, what are some good entry level bows that he could look for? Also what would be a good used bow to look for?

I would call PSE and see if you can get a warranty on the limbs. If that isn't possible there are tons of starter bows out there that are a good price. The Diamond Liberty is right under their top of the line bow. A more fitting bow for your buddy would be the Diamond Rapture. Its really smooth, quiet, and fast. I think my shop is selling them $399.99 bare bow. Don't quote me on that price though I know it is somewhere close. There are a bunch of other companies that sell some good bows for an affordable price. I know Parker, Martin, Pearson, and Bear are great for that. I'm sure there are a few more too.

To answer your 2nd question, I'd recommend one of the cheaper Diamond bows they had at Gander Mtn. or a used bow.

Maybe your friend should just avoid all bows with luck like that;)

Me and the guy that were in the shooting area were both just like. WTF?!?? The guy was cool about it though, don't know what the heck could have caused it?

For starters I would have to say that you can test hundreds of bows and give him your opinion but it means absolutly nothing. He has to be the one to try it out and figure out what he likes. Your opinion means nothing!

The first thing I would help him with is figuring out his budget. You can find tons of great used bows on the market but if he can't afford them it doesn't matter. And if he can afford the bow but none of the accessoriesI(sight, rest, quiver, etc..) then what good is it.

Once you have that then you can start looking.

We priced out all the accessories and stuff for him tonight. He has a pretty good idea of what he can spend too.

That is exactly why I told him to shoot it, cause he asked me if I could shoot it and tell him what I think. I told him the decision is all his but I would be willing to put in my 2 cents.

I think you are going about this in the right way...give advice when asked but do not make the decision for him...that's a road that can get fairly bumpy even with the best intentions on your part.

What happened to that Bow...more than likely, from the sound of it, someone backed it out too far so it was easy to draw.

Id contact a PSE dealer. PSE has a hell of a warranty program that just cant be beat, but not sure on older bows. But usually they will replace the limbs if they still make the bow.

Well I sent an e-mail to PSE to see what the deal was on warranty, or what my options were.

I forgot to tell everybody that the guy put the whisker biskit on backwards when I told him we needed a rest to try the bow out. So that is 4 for 4 of the shops around here for messin stuff up. That just made me laugh though

Damn, I missed out on PSE warranty by 1 year...too bad I didn't look it over last year I guess..
