When I put a fixed stand in I try to put it up 18 to 20 feet. I'll go lower if there is good cover. I also hunt in ladders that are 15to 18 ft.to the seat.

Usually 15 - 20 feet. It depends on the area and the cover situation. I've gotten busted at 15 feet, especially when I was in a tree without much cover. 18 - 20 feet seems to be the best height most times - low enough that your shot angle isn't too extreme, but high enough that you usually won't get busted, especially if you got some cover.

I hunt in a wooded (oak, hickory and pine, mostly) mountain area and hunt anywhere between 10' and 18' to the platform, using my Lone Wolf stand and sticks or a Summit self-climber, depending on cover, location on the mountain, where the deer are likely to come from, etc.

Someone bring this thread back from the dead from last season???

15-20 ft.

Did hunt once at 10 ft, yeah it was crazy, but it's all I had in a spot that produced DAILY, so I dealt with it. Really wasn't too bad, really didn't get busted at all. Hunted it for two years until it was stolen.

my hang ons are anywhere from 20-25 feet, but it all depends on the cover around me and what height i think is adequate for cover.

For me 15 ft is high enough with the proper cover.

I'm a 20 ft. guy myself. I wouldn't mind going higher though to get away with more movement. I'm gonna buy some more climbing sticks and add on to my existing stands.

For the exception of one ladder stand all of mine are at least 20 ft. I have one that is about 28ft. The tall one is located at the bottom of a ridge in a creek bottom so I have to be extremely high not to get spotted by deer coming down the ridge.
