Does anyone use Baseslayers?!?
 

I've been looking at Scent-Lok baseslayers a lot lately, and have some question for anyone who might use them or know about them. I'm looking at them for two reasons. 1) for an extra percautionwith scent control and 2) looking for something to put on when I leave the house and drive to my hunting spot.

In Iowa, the best hunting (IMO) is in November and temps can get down into the teens sometimes. I always dress out in the field so I nomally just where shorts and a shirt to the woods. Needless to say, I'm tired of freezing my butt off. Sometimes I feel I never warm back up and I'm always cold all morning long....sometimes ending my hunt earlier than wanted. That is why I'm looking at something warmer to where to my spot.

So my question is: If I wear Scent-Lok Baseslayers in the house, to my vehicle, then to my spot, am I defeating the purpose of Scent-Lok. If so, I will look at a cheaper alternative (under armor or something). I would still plan on spraying down the baseslayers before dressing in my camo. Part of me still thinks it would do it's job in keeping my human scent retained. But the other part of me thinks that by wearing it in the house/vehicle, it will hold the human scent. What do you think? Any experience with it or suggestions. Thanks in advance.

X-Scents really works great and is less money.

The socks are great for under 80 bucks you can get the whole deal.

I bought some Military Style and wash it in some Scent Eliminator to get all that factory smell out... I only use it for cold weather... other wise I dont see the need... I would suggest buying some Shampoo/Soap that is No-Scent or Scent-Eliminator (Wal-Mart carries both of these) but Scent Lok Boots would be suggested...

this doesn't necessarily pertain to base layers but you could buy a pair of coveralls, wash them in scent-free soap with your hunting clothes and then wear the coveralls to your hunting site, take them off and put on yoiur hunting clothes. That way anything underneath will not get scented up and you have something fairly warm to wear to where you are going.

What bruce mentioned is what I will be doing this year as well. I will get a set of uninsulated coveralls to wear over them, washed in my hunting soap of course, to keep them from picking up any scent.

The BaseSlayers are very comfortable. They add an element of warmth as well, but they alone won't be enough.

I use the Scent Blocker Plus Underguard and the x-scent depending on the weather the x-scent seems to be a little cooler during those warm days! Either one works good!

Makes me feel better. I bought the light pants/shirt/socks on clearance for $27 plus tax last winter:D. I can't wait to givem a try.
