Haven't tried neither, but have put deercane(not sure on spelling)on a fallen tree, and the deer have chewed it half-way through(this tree was about 24 inches in diameter). Works for us because we don't have to buy bait everytime we go out to the property(about 3 hours away). Just pour a bottle over the log once a month, and they keep comin back.

Here in Louisiana it is legal to have bait stations, feeders, corn, just about anything you want because the population is so large. Our doe tags for our property went from 35 over the last eight years to 60 this coming season. The only thing we cannot use is fresh whole sweet potato. What does that tell you?

Neither; not worth the price of the bag they come in.
