Hunting land?

I have 4 or 5 places to hunt but the most land is 20 acres. I would really like to get permission to hunt alot of land like 500 acres. How would I find a place to ask permission?

Thanks

RE: Hunting land?

I'd get a county plat book. it shows every land owner in the county and how many acres they have. be persistent. some counties even have websites that do the same thing. most rural counties (at least in minnesota don't though)

RE: Hunting land?

Get the plat book and make the rounds. Be prepared to ask 50 landowners before you get one yes. It will be worth it when you get it. Also, be prepared to work with the other hunters already on that land. If he said yes to you(someone he doesn't know), odds are he says yes to lost of people. You never know though, you might have been the only one to ask him.

There is also a lot of land that is open to public hunting that the general public does not know about. Here in Wisconsin, there are tax breaks for forest land open to the public. If I look at my plat book, about 20% of the land in my county is enrolled inthis program. Talk to the DNR to get an updatedlist of these farmers and land owners and what the requirements are.Our DNR also requires farmers that are compensated for crop damage to open their land to the public. Once again, ask the DNR about this or check their website.

Good Luck
