My eyes were opened.....Am I selfish?

RE: My eyes were opened.....Am I selfish?
I got an invitation several years ago to do some doe hunting on outfitted property in Pike County, IL. Drove 5 hours each way, and it never occured to me to shoot anything but a doe, even though I saw several bucks that would have gone 150+. I used to hunt some private land out of state that was also does only, and never had any problem not abiding by the rules.
When someone gives you an invitation to hunt private land, follow their rules and be greatful. Otherwise, it would be like going to your neighbor's house for dinner, then getting up from the table to raid his refrigerator -- rude.

One of the guys I'm talking about lives literally 300 yds from one of my good woodlots I hunt. I was at his house, today, discussing strategies with him. He's got a stand on his property.....and we hunt the same deer.
If he takes a good buck off his property......KUDOS! More power to him. If he asked me to come over and kill a couple of does.....I'd go there and kill ONLY does.
Just me.

I personally wouldn't invite someone to my place and tell them that they couldn't shoot a buck that I would shoot. I wouldn't feel right about doing that. If I didn't want them to shoota buck, then I wouldn't invite them at all.
I may invite someone with the purpose of shooting does and will place them accordingly on the property, but if a "shooter" buck by my definition comes by and they have a tag for him, feel free to take a poke at him.
Again, this would only apply to my family property or another place I was paying for exclusive rights to.
Just MHO.
