RE: Chlorophyll tablets... Anyone?

I have a better idea especially if you have a sweet tooth, Rather than pay outrageous money for gimicks I buy a abg of jolly ranchers apple, and some maple candies keeps the bad breath away and costs much less , if you are doing proper scent controll you should be OK beside 90% of your scent comes from your mouth, the rest are just hot zones in the body like head arm pits and foot which are already covered anyway !! I feel most people ingnore there breath even if you brush 5X before you go 3 hrs later your mouth stinks right, right so keep some hard candy in your pocket unwrapped of course, the lint wont hurt you but the noisy wrappers will scare the deer, sounwrap 8 or so put them in your pocket. Besides its quieter than a water bottle or soda, and you wont have to pee as much which means longer time in thetree and less time farting around. ItWorks for me I cant afford the scent controll stuff way to much for my pocket. so strict scent controll is a must, But I feel the most important partabout scent centoll and where errors are made is from ones breath!!!!! Personally I see more deer than people I know that use the scent lock, the only thing I do different then buy that exspensive stuff is keep my breath in check!! Very Important IMO. Just my 2 cents

Put the candy in small zip-lock baggies. That way you keep them clean, they are easy to find and get to, and the plastic baggie doesn't make any noise. (I know a little off topic by CTJohnB started it;)) I used to bear hunt with a guy who was a gun hunter (nothing bad against them). He would come up to the stand in the afternoon after mowing the yard. He didn't change his clothes nor did he wear camo. I finally bought him some from the base. Lunch time would roll around or he would get hungry and he would put out a sandwich wrapped in aluminum foil, a bag of chips, Twinkies or everything else that would make noise. I would set my bow off to the side and get comfortable because I knew nothing was going to come around. I finally had to have a talk with him about scent removal, NOISE and the whole idea of tree stand hunting. He would drive up to a field opening day...spot a deer 400 yards off...pop it and be done for the year. So swinging back around to the topic at hand....the other thing that I haven't seen mentioned is using scent free deodorant. It was already mentioned but it stands repeating is to wash a towel or two to dry off with after you've taken that scent free shower. Also what about the pick-up seat? You've spent all this time and money to get scent free and then you park your caboose on the dirty seat. I will wash a few more towels and drape them over the seat. You also don't want to stop and get gas the morning of the big hunt. Fill-up BEFORE you get all dressed up.

It is the small things that mean so much.

Thanks for the input fellas. I'm a total scent eliminationnut, so I definitely smell what you're cooking. (pun intended)

I'd sell my soul to spend one day in my life as a whitetail deer, just to see what they see, smell what they smell, and think what they think. Most people can't comprehend how well a whitetail can detect chemicals/smells in the air. They can even isolate just a few parts per million of certain airborne particles. We just can'twrap our mind around that kind of sensitivity, just based on our own sensitivity limitations.

Then, they have the vomeronasal glands - that we can't even fathom how those work, b/c most experts say that we don't even havean active form of that"sixth"sense. It's some kind of chemical detection system for breeding. Trying to understand how that works is like trying to understand what the color Purple is like, if you were born blind. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vomeronasal_organ

I mostly keep my clothes stacked in plastic tubs, powdered down with Arm & Hammer, stuffed with leaves, nuts and dirt -then sprayed with scent killer. I keep the tubs locked away in a basement closet. Cut the hair, watch the sweat, do the scent clothing, deodorant, soaps - stay "clean" - rubber gloves/boots...etc... Still not enough.

I've done everything from poop collecting to freshly harvested tarsals to practically bathing in dirt to cover my scent - and you still can't fool their snouts... truly amazing.

From what I've read - these chlorophyll tabs really will make a difference. They prescribe them to people with body odor disorders - and get great results. It's only a few dollars, so I'm gonna give it a go.

This reminds me of a story - back in 1999, I had a summer job picking ordersfor a huge food vendor at their centralized logistics hub. Being low man on the totem pole (college summer help), we got the worst jobs - picking grocery storeorders in the frozen foods section.

The "bread" coolers were 0 degrees F, and the "Ice Cream" coolers were -32 degrees F. It was so cold in there that the tiny bits of moisture on your eyelashes would stick together sometimes when you blinked. At -32, dry ice would just sit there like frozen water- no "steaming." An 8-16-24 hour shift in that place was just brutal.

Anyway, at -32, there is zero moisture in the air - and a complete lack of scent. So, 8, 10, 12, 16 hours of heavy laborin there would completely clear your nasal passages out.

When the shift ended, you would walk outside, and could smell EVERYTHING. You could tell exactly what the neighbors were cooking. You could tell which trees were pollenating. You'd go change clothes in the locker room, and you could still smell yesterday's pizza on your t-shirt. The parking lot would overpower you with the odor of diesel fuel, exhaust, motor oil... It was totally amazing.

So I figure if the human nose is capable of that kind of sensitivity - and awhitetail snout 1000x more powerful - that's just mind blowing.

Maybe I am just lucky. I dont consider myself the best deer hunter around as many do. However here is my routine. I get up out of bed and if I have time I take a shower. Regular soap and shampoo. I put most of my gear on and drive a half hour to pick up my buddy. Sometime I have to get gas on the way. He smokes at least two cigarettes on the drive to the woods. (I quit smoking about 3 years ago.) Walk to the stand and sit. I have pissed off of my stand before because a certified wildlife biologist told me (and I trust her) that a deer can smell urine and feces however they smell that stuff all day and they won't get spooked by human waste any more then they would by dog, coyotte, skunk or whatever kind of waste they come across every day. I never go a season without filling my freezer. Maybe I would see more dear if I tried harder but I have always felt that I have been successful without all the hype and expense. Like someone else said people have been killing animals for years without it and with some primitive weapons that required getting a lot closer then we have to get today. Bash me and critisize me but it works so why change it. I just see people go way overboard with the scent.

Yeah, I know they turn your poo green, so we have that base covered.

I've read that taking Chlorophyll tablets will greatly reduce human odor - and I know that there are guys out there who have taken it to the deer woods. Just looking for some reinforcement before I make that leap...

So these things have my attention. Anything to help me fight the war on human odor - I'm all for it.

I figure, I already shave my wholebody, soak my clothes in Arm & Hammer, slather myself in unscented soap, brush my teeth with baking soda (or unscented body soap), wear antimicrobial and scent absorbant clothing, wipe down with Scent Killer, store stuff in scent-proof bins, deodorize my car, and bring home bags of dirt, leaves and nuts for cover... A few pills won't kill me.

Has anyone ever tried them? Will they turn my tongue green or make me smell like ajar orrelishor anything?
