Hanging Stands?

Are your stands hung yet? If so, how long have they been hung? If not, when will you hang them?

I hang my stand as soon as I reach mytree of choice. The beauty of a climber, versatility.;)

I hear ya early in. I dread hanging the few hang ons I have. It's so hot here right now we are having to water the mailbox just to get mail. I have a summit viper too, so I'll be using that for the run and gun scene.

I leave mine up year round.I use the hang on's that have the chains on the backs.I go in right befour season and check them and put NEW ratchet straps on.It helps stiffen the stand and it helps insure that it's not going to slip.

I gotta wait [&o]... here in Michigan we can't put our stands upon state or public land until the 1st of September then we can leave them up until January 1st providing they don't get stolen. [>:]

I have 3 stands hung already and I just finished another today. Plus I have to put another stand out in a whole different area soon also.

I'll start hanging some stands over the next couple weeks... I don't get in too big a hurry due to a few reasons: 1) I hate ticks and ESPECIALLY chiggars, 2) I'm HIGHLY allergic to poison ivy, 3) I hunt mostly public land and would worry about my stands even if they were locked onto the tree

I still have some valuable scouting to do. It won't be long though. I am getting a couple bucks dialed in right nowand I am almost sure where I am going to hang a couple stands for early season. With 25 days left to scout before the opener I hope tohave 4-5 bucks Iwill target. Right now I have 3. Of course if I get a suprise while targeting a buck, that'sa bonus!

My three spots right now are2 bedding areas and one travel route to water/feed from the bed. I also have several stands up that I leave year around. They are placed in well traveled doe routes and I hunt these much more in Nov...

I don't use permanent stands for a few reasons:
1) I have heard they can pose some safety problems (fixable with inspections).
2) I don't want the deer to be abelt pattern me.
3) Expense.

I carry my Lone Wolf Alpha Assault with me. Quiet as death.

Put up 3 this weekend in central louisiana, and it was burning up. You can't get enough fluids.

Already have some tripods and lock ons from last year that stay out all year.

Also have climbers for versatility.

As soon as its not 90 with 100% humidity Ill think about getting out there to hang the last stand I have to hang untill I get my buddy stand.

Read an article.....gonna try a new strategy.

I'm going to give myself 2 weeks to catch a buck still on his summer pattern.......so I'm not going in there and setting any stands until 2 weeks after the opener. I'll hunt with a climber until that time.

I still have two of my ladder stands to put up. It will be a couple of more weeks for me because I havemore potential spotsto put my cameras in. Ilove my climber anyway, andprefer tohunt out of it.

Year round (except the climber that rarely gets used).
I have a lock-on at a friends farm, and a ladder and two permanents at another farm. I'm looking to build a tripod, but need to fix up my trailer to get the 20' 6x6's up there.

I've hung 5 stands over the past 2 weeks whenever I've had time. Got 3 more to go and then I should be done. Depending on how many stands you have to hang, anytime this month is good.

I just hung two of my stands this weekend over some awesome new spots! I think this season is going to be the year and even if it isn't its going to be a blast.

RE: Hanging Stands?

I put one up this weekend when I relocated the trail cams, I wanted to prune this stand out and it is in a heavy travel corridor so I wanted to get it done eary and avoid preseason disturbance. I usually base the stand placement and odds of dist. a big buck on when I try to get in and hang them and prep. Climbers give you better versitility and are the way to go!
