To Late In The Game?
Elk season starts on the 25th of this month. I'm shooting my bow every morning and every night. I'm pulling 65lbs smoothly. I was planing on shooting 125 grain muzzy's. The guy at the pro shop and my buddy both told me if I'm not pulling 70lbs thatI should only shoot 100 grains. I'm lifting weights and hitting the treadmill every other day. Should I keep striving for 70lbs? Or should I stick at 65lbs and start practicing with 100grain and buy some new broadheads? Or am I okay with 125 grains at 65lbs?
Any input is appreciated! Thanks Bryan |
RE: To Late In The Game?
I shoot 125gr's and I shoot 66#'s.
My KE is above anything I've seen posted, yet. I'd say get a second opinion. |
RE: To Late In The Game?
It comes down to getting a setup YOU shoot well and what YOU feel comfortable with.
As long as your arrow is spined correctly and you are getting good arrow flight, there is no reason to change your setup. What you have is plenty for elk. Going to a 100gr broadhead will reduce your FOC and your downrange momentum but will have the advantage of increasing the arrow speed a bit. Your KE will stay nearly the same. With the season being this close, if what you have is working, stick to it, practice....practice....practice and get any last minute fine tuning done. |
RE: To Late In The Game?
The only thing that matters regarding 100/125is if it affecting the spine of your arrows. And if you are shooting good, that is probably not the case. Don't fix what isn't broke.
