Great people, awesome whitetails!

Hey guys, I just got back yesterday from my trip out to visit Tim (TJF) and Tyler (Dagger Buck 2) and his girls, wife Barb and Daughter Brittany. My wife and I absolutely had the best of times with Tim and his family. Not only are thesepeople hard core whitetail shed hunters and hunters, they are salt of the earth folks! Tim and I have formed a great friendship over the past 3years here on HNI. Going out and actually meeting them and scouting with them was icing on top of the cake. I was so wound up whiletalking sheds, hunting bucks....digging through their 1000 or so bones they have foundand hearing all the stories and memories that came from the special ones etc..that we stayed up all night and then went out and scouted and filmed ...

Tim, Tyler, Barb and Brittany, thank you so much for having Dee and I out. :)

Here are a few photos of 50 or more that touch slightly on the great time we had. I learned so much from Tim and Tyler about their habitat and whitetails, how they hunt the big slueghs and grass/ag lands of ND. I felt like a kid in a candy store on every morning and evening scout. We filmed beautiful bucks, does and some boone and crocket mosquitos! I so look forward to hunting with these guys in the future. The 2500 mile round trip was well worth it.

I will be writing a field journal asap on our trip..here is a snidbit of pix we took.. Bucks we filmed, sheds we shared and swapped... etc..

Myself, Tyler and Tim just finishing up a great morning of filming bucks heading back to their beds..

This youngster came into bow range for some close up video...

Crawling through the grasses to get in position is definately needed in this open country..

RE: Great people, awesome whitetails!

we filmed over 30 bucks.. but the big boy below stole the show..I hope Tim or Tyler put an arrow in this one!

Filming this buck up close and personal at the crack of dawn made my trip, hes got it all for a 4x5...

Tim shot this photo of me at daybreak filming 3 nice whitetails out on a barley field.

Here Tyler and Tim show me the "Strand Buck" these guys hunted and found his sheds for a couple years, later found out he got poached. They had a lot of memories tied up in him, each finding a set... Then they handed me these sheds and told me to take them home with me. Which means a lot because I know how much this buck meant to them.

Germ, THERE ARE NONE! only trees there are ones people have planted..it amazes me how these guys kill these big bucks off the ground in close quarters..only grass to hide in..

Buckmag... hes a 9 .. and yes hes a danged awesome buck, we have some incredible first light footage of him walking by us as we are tucked in some weeds..filmed him as close as 25-30 yards..

I just noticed that G-4 on his left side. From what I can tell, it appears that he has close to 13" G-2's, and his G-3's are probablly9". What a hog. I bet that got the heart pumping and the trigger finger itching. :D

Man, looks like you guys had a really nice time. Tim's always struck me as a good egg - great sense of humor - meat & potatoes kinda guy - knows his deer like a book - and knows how to wear out a pair of shoes. That's the kinda guy you can really spend some time with and talk deer hunting.

Good grief - just have a look at those shed bins. Holy moly. Around here, if you find a single four-point shed, you'll get your picture on the cover of National Geographic or Pennsylvania Game News. LOL

Tim - I still think you ran that deer over.

Thats cool Troy, Glad to hear you had a good time. Not many people I would travel 2500 miles to see! That sure was a tall tined 10 pt, Rack kind of looks out of place this time of year with that skinny pencil neck, it will look like a differnt Buck in 3 months. Thanks for sharing the pics with us.

Sounds like you had a blast. It's always fun meeting new people and seeing different terrains they hunt for deer. It humbles you a little bit when you think you have it down for your area, then see theirs and you have to learn the game again.

We really had a great time with Troy and Dee. Very good people to say the least!!It didn't take long to see why Troy is such an accomplished hunter. I am not in his league at all. I am really looking forward to our elk hunt with Troy in 08 to see hiscountry and spend more time with him. The elk and getting to meet Rybowill be icing on the cake.

After getting to meetTeeJay and now Troy... they really made our summer. Thanks to HNI as it wouldn't have happened otherwise. This is a great site with great people using it. I look forward to meeting others someday and continuing my friendship with these two great guys.

The 4x5 was a great buck but Troy didn't mention that of all the bucks we saw, he is a rariety. ;) This booner buck that I am postingis more the norm and he's got my name on him for the contest. I shouldn't show it as I don't want everyone flocking to my state thinking there is one behind every tree ( ) but I feel I can trust my fellow HNIers and you deserve the truth!!!

Tim
