I also love to use apples. There arent many apple trees around me so the deer attack them when there out. The only problem with them is that they are much more expensive than corn.

I have alot of apple trees and the deer still attack them when i put out a pile apples rock.

I picked ( other ) why you asked ... because if and I said if I was to use bait I think I would usemore than one depending on the area I'm hunting at the time.
I think the most common type of bait I would use would be crab apples because they grow wild and I would would also use whats in the area such as nuts and berries.
Putting other types of bait that doesn't normaly grow around the area might make the deer skidish and leerly ... just my opinion.

The feed I use has a lot of peanuts in it. They seem to love it.

Corn is my favorite. You can spread it into a large area, and it keeps their heads down when eating it. Apples allow them to pick one up and look around while they eat it.
