Kisser Button or Not?
 

I have been trying to shoot without a kisser button this summer, just to see if I can do it and I am dead on at 20 and 30 but if I move back to 40 and 50 its hard for me to stay consistent. I try to anchor my nose and thumb on my neck in the same spot every time but still inconsistent. Just curious who shoots with a kisser button and who does not?

I do not use a kisser buttom, but I am thinking about trying one out.

i dont shoot a kisser and i use my pointer finger knuckle under my earlobe as my ancor point

Continue to shoot out past 30 yards and build your confidence in shooting without it. That seems to be the problem I see. I made the change at one time and siad the same thing, but after a while I returned to form without it. On the other hand if you feel more comfortable with it dont change. But you do not need it.

Well if you can anchor your thumb on your neck that is your first problem. Either your draw length is too long or your release is too long, basically having the same effect. Besides throwing your form off anchoring your thumb to your neck is a poor anchor and not very consistent.

50 yards is getting out there, don't expect to shoot well at that distance unless you have really consistent form and good release technique.

My first question is are you using a peep sight? If you are I wouldn't suggest a kisser button. If you are not using a peep sight then I would try one, but I would suggest the Timberline NO PEEP instead. Much better product in my opinion. It does cost quite a bit more than a kisser button though;).

If you are using a peep sight, the location of it and the size of it will play a role in how accurate you can shoot with it at longer distances.

My opinions anyway.

I use one. I have always used one though and would probably be lost without one...
