is my buddy slow or is it me
well me and my buddywhy i got into bowhunting were talking yesterday about the Pa early doe season. i said i was going out and he said why? know one is going to go out early for a doe. i sayed yea i know alot of people that are going out for it. he than said that know one in are hunting area ( public land in an urban area ) will go out. he said he talk to two guys that hunt there with us and he said " there not going out, so you shouldn't it's stupid" and then you know that is a deer see and smells a gut pile that they will leave the area. then he compared it to a human seeing a guts and blood in there house. he acts likes its ( are hunting land ) is the same has the drurys farms. i think there is a big differnts.
sorry to go on and on, but what should i tell him? |

RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
don't worry about it, i've seen deerstep overthe gutpile from the deer i shot the day before and not pay it any attention.
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
You sure your buddy is really into hunting, ya'll talking about the same thing??
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
go for it. sounds like he is the slow one.
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Wow, my guess is that he is slow as well, sorry dude.
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
well I can see his point to an extent. IF you are entering this season with the inclination to shoot a mature buck, then Iwould not go putting heavy pressure on my best areas that may hold one. However, if you are just out to kill some deer and don't care what size the bucks are, then have at it and hunt where you want.
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Since you are talking about public land that is going to get pressure anyway, I say go for it. It sounds like you may get a jump on some guys and get to put some meat in your freezer before you have to worry about horns.
As far as gut piles go, I haven't seen a gut pile stay around long enough to spook deer. The foxes and turkey vultures usually have that taken care of in a day. |
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
It dont work that way, evedently your buddies think deer think like humans, " a mature buck isnt going to walk up to a gut pile and think my gosh that was Sally" Ive shot too many deer that have walked up to one that was laying on the ground shot just five to ten minutes earlier. I shot my biggest buck within ten feet from a gut pile, go out and tag your doe and enjoy the solitude from no one else in the woods.

Too hard to read your broken grammar[:@]

RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Thats funny, I never asked you to critique my grammer!

RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
If you intend on shooting a Doe any ways I would go out and hunt,if your waiting to get a Big Buck then don't shoot any Doe's because they will help draw in a Buck.A Gut pile will not scare off any Deer and after a day or 2 you will never know it was there depending on how many coyotes, crows and vultures you have in your area.
Whats the deal with Early Doe Season in PA....?Explain it to us who live out of state from You. |
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Go for it! Shooting a couple of doe is great practice, period. Just don't disrupt the areawhere you will bebuck hunting. Oh yea, your grammar is deplorable.:D:D

RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
i see it how Rybo sees it.
i have to reinsure i still have permission in an orchard this season. i should...and if i do, i will try to take a doe out early. ONLY because i am not confident i will ever see a legal buck in there in daylight. the deer are highly pressure all around the orchard and dont get old by being stupid. and the apples are best earlier..after a week or 2 of the season the deer dont eat in there much. early on though i feel my chances are highest..figure i might as well take a doe or 2 out if im not going to do much good buck hunting in there. another thing...if its HOT i wont be out period. no sense ruining a potential hotspot over a doe. id just like some meat in the freezer and my first bow kill or 2 under my belt so when mr. big horns walks by me im more prepared. dads gettin on me...he wants some sausage this year...i let him down last year:D |
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Your talking about public land in Pa right... Doe this DA think there is going to be nobody in the woods on doe day
![]() I would go and not tell anybody... Just have them over for fresh back strap and tell them then;) |
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Go, but if it's warm remember you have to skin it right away and get the carcass cool. Process it immediately. Leaving one out overnight in the early season w/o at least gutting it will ruin the meat!
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
If the season is open you should go hunting. It's mandatory. Staying out of the woods means you're a wusss. I wouldn't worry about your friend. Go hunting.
|
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Do what makes you happy bud. its your hunting season not your freinds. Personally i wouldbe in the woods the first chance i got... It really shouldnt make one bit of difference on public land what ANYONE else is doing.hunting or not.. its PUBLIC..
Go out, have a good time, enjoy nature and good luck with that first blood trail bud... |
RE: is my buddy slow or is it me
Go for it man dont let him hold you back. And that garbage about deer seeing and smelling a gut pile making other deer leave is BS. I have gut deer and left the guts there and 10 minutes later have a deer walk up to the gut pile and lick the salt off the guts, we see this year after year, mostly during gun season. Your buddy is very very very slow, and Im not sure if he should be out there quite yet. Use the op to harvest mature does to your advantage.
