Arrow weight question?

Okay my bow is set for 70 pounds, the IBO is 297 fps, my draw length is 28 inches, I have a single cam compound, what size arrow should I be shooting for hunting?

Right now I am shooting Easton 2016 with 100 grain broadheads, they shoot very well, if this is the theoretical wrong size how big of a difference will a different size arrow make?

nodose thanks for the link, according to thier charts I should be shooting 2216's instead of 2016's. How big a difference is there between the two in flight and kinetic energy? Should I buy new arrows?

Taz, Arrow speed by itself is severely OVERRATED. I agree with good speed only if the KE is affected. IMO 2016's will not give you the KE you need.

Basserman how much more kenetic energy will I get out of 2216's with my setup versus 2016's?

RE: Arrow weight question?

I cannot figure to an accurate level as one must take the grain weight of the shaft/nock/insert/broadhead/and fletchings to get an accurate weight of the arrow.

By just taking the weight of the shaft with 5 inch vanes and no broadhead figured at 297 fps for the 2016 and a SWAG on your arrow speed for a 2216 you could be gaining 12-17 lbs of KE.

Really tough to figure taking guesses. Try the sie I'm furnishing after you get all the info. Hope it helps LOL.

Tax, go with some lightweight carbons. Beman ICS 340's or Goldtip 55/75's would work with your set up. You won't have to worry about bent arrows, and with your set up, they will be stunningly effective!<img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_evil.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle><img src=icon_smile_big.gif border=0 align=middle>
