30lbs for Deerhunting

RE: 30lbs for Deerhunting
I think it's pathetic, but that's just me.
But then again, I'm guessing the guys writing the legislation have never had a Thunderhead jammed 3" deep into their shoulder or gutsand had to live witha resulting festering, gangrenouswound or wander around the woods with their intestines hanging out.
Maybe we should just legalize bows made out of paperclips and rubber bands, that way EVERYBODY can hunt! It will be great! Imagine, you could take your 3-year old out there and get to watch him draw back on that monster buck...

RE: 30lbs for Deerhunting
Manitoba has a 45lb minimum draw weight....... a little on the heavy side I think. 30lb will do but its a little on the low side. Shot placement has to be perfect and the range should be kept to a minimum, I'd go about 15-20yds max.
On a side note my wife(a first yr bow shooter) has to sit this year out b/c she can still only draw 40lbs

I think 40 should be the limit. If you have ever watched someone shoot a 30lb bow, I don't trust that arrow going in to a deer, or any animal for that matter. Even at 15 yards, everything would have to be PERFECT for it to turn out well.
