The show Wildlife Point Blank when the guy shot the African Buffalo through the nose with his bow[:-]. Supposedly he was aiming for the middle of the chest...talk about jumping the gun. And I have also been seeing way too many gut shots on the outdoor channel these days. Talk about making us hunters look good huh[:'(]?!?!

Yeah I seen it. At least they showed what can happen. He finally got it after the chased it down with the mud buggy.

I don't think shooting a buffalo in the chest with a bow is a good idea.

if you ask me shooting a buffalo is like shooting a cow. i have seen the shows the buffalo just stand there and look at them while swatting off flies with their tail. they are big, and travel in huge groups. sounds like cattle to me. i dont know i have never been to africa though.

Except that a Cape buffalo will happily run you over and proceed to stomp you into a bloody puddle of goo. Other than THAT, it's probably just like shooting a cow.

When was the last time you heard of cows lying in wait or stalking and killing someone? A cape buffalo's nothing to be trifled with and you certainly wouldn't see me trying a frontal shot on one unless I was shooting a large bore with a solid projectile. It's episodes like this one that got bowhunting for dangerous game banned in S. Africa.
