I was just wondering..How much more will velvet bucks grow from here on out?? Let me know what you think!!

I believe they start rubbing it off end of August here in Midwest to early Sept. When it actually stops growing not sure .

I just asked my taxidermist and hunting partner this 2 days ago. Around MD he said the antlers will stop growing in the next2 weeks at which time the blood circulation starts to get cut off, causingthe antlers to start to harden. Usually in MD most of the velvet is offsomewhereinearly to mid Sept typically.

Around WI here i expect it to be around late august. It's amazing how fast they actually drop the velvet. Only a few hours from teh time it starts to hang from the time they rub it off. i tried to download a few pictures but the file was too large. it shows a 162 in. buck in full velvet and 2 and a half ohurs later he had it all rubbed off. amazing how that works.

At this point they're pretty much done growing, now they are simply hardening.
