Default broadheads?

last year I used Montec G-5's and was very disappointed. Any suggestions, Ive heard magnus are good along with Grim Reaper. Has anyone used them? Im looking for field point accuracy.

I'd check your bow tuning.
Montecs are the best BH I've ever used. Put them on any arrow and they hit the same spot as my field points.
My brother, father in law, and another hunting buddy all had the same results, best BH all of us have ever used.

By the way my buddy uses the same arrows as you.

I would check out the slick tricks or magnus buzzcuts. Both seem great. That is what I am using this year. Grim Reapers look nice for mech. heads

broadhead tuning. if you broadhead tune i bet most anything will group with your fieldpoints and shoot very accurately. not to mention better arrow flight period and better penetration because there isnt the wasted KE of bad arrow flight fishtailing and wasting energy as it enters half sideways or something.

goto eastons website. find and download the tuning guide. somewhere in the guide is broadhead tuning. very simple and doesnt take all too long...IF your arrows are properly spined for your setup that is.

after you broadhead tune you should be happy. i know i was last year when i did it. i shot atleast 4 different fixed heads that i can think of and 1 mechanical and field points. 6 arrows, 6 different heads, all in 1 nice group...worked for me

good luck

thanks everyone, my bow is tuned well I believe. the montecs shot consistant, it was the penetration i wasnt happy with. i shot a deer a little far back (gut shot) with awsome penetration, but a week later i shot a nice buck in the vitals and didnt get hardly any penetration. the buck lived and still is around, limping to this day. it just seems as though the solid construction/thick bladesof the montecs slows the arrow down on contact. i could be wrong but after losing that deer i decided id had enough.

Let me get this straight, you claim that the G5 Montec didn't give you satisfactory penetration? [:-][&:]Then to top it off, you say you're thinking about a mech like the Grim Reaper to replace it?!?
