viper cables

Bought a summit viper last year and used it for the first time. I've never been a big fan of climbers for a variety of reasons, but this thing really kicks @#& :D. Quiet, comfy, packs easy, andsimple to climb with.

However.........[:@] what's the deal with the cables smacking the back of my legs the whole time I'm carrying it? I have them in all the way and they are constantly hitting the back of my legs. Is it just my body configuration or has anyone else noticed this to be a pain?

Maybe your butt is too flat?[8D]:D

Are you talking about the cables or the part of the frame that bites into the tree? I don't see how the cables could be hitting your legs. I have that problem with the frame sometimes...depending on the terrain (walking down hills). Have you tried adjusting the staps so it sits higher on your back?

Ajust the straps so the stand rides higher on your back.

Also, push the cables in all the way to the bottom-most stops when you're packing it in and out... this will probably stop that, plus make it quieter as there's no "loose cables" inside the tubing to bump around as you walk or hit stuff.

I have 2 Vipers and a 180, and have never had that problem--I think th esuggestion to adjust ths straps is probably best---or maybe you do have a flat butt!!!!;):D

I have an older Viper and don't have that problem but you could remove the cables and weave them in through the bottom platform to get them out of the way

Don't know how, but I dealt with that same problem last fall. Ditto to what has already been said to fix it. I moved the shoulder straps one bar lower (ie, to raise it up) and each time I use it, I just push the cables most of the way in (usually leaving one knob out). That seemed to fix it for me. It also keeps it higher so it doesn't catch on as much underbrush.
