RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
I will not be shooting the buck at all until I get a doe. The point is
if I shoot the doe with that buck standing there he will never be back I believe. Yes if the doe runs you are correct no sticker. Should I wait for another chance at a doe so that buck might come back without knowing I am there? Hopefully I have my buck sticker by then. Thanks ORIGINAL: Tikka 30-06 Ya but its still illegal to kill the buck first right? What if the doe runs away, then you have no buck sticker. |
RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
Now, if you shot a Bowtech you could shoot them both and either deer wouldnt know what hit them.

RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
ORIGINAL: IL-Cornfed I personally would never shoot a Doe in front of a buck, talk about ruining a perfectly good stand set up. Granted, there may be the chance that it wouldn't mess up the stand but it certainly wouldn't be a chance I'd be willing to take, regardless of the size of the buck standing with the Doe. |
RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
Good deal manu thanks
Its just so hard with this 35 acres and 3 other hunters. RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
I think we give them critters a little too much credit.
I'd still wait til I had a clean shot at a doe without a buck around......just in case. |
RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
I would shoot twice real fast, of course doe first.

RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
Why would you even hunt that spot before you have killed a doe if you know there is a 160 class buck on the property? IF it is only 35 acrea and 3 hunters you don't have to shoot a doe with a buck to run the big boy off, he'll bust one of ya'll before you know it then its bye bye.The best chance to kill a big mature buck is the first time you hunt him, with that said go kill your doe somewwhere else, then set your sights on the big buck.Even then with that small of a place to hunt and 3 hunters it will be extremly tough to get him.He did'nt get that big by being stupid.

RE: Peaks homework #1 for you
I would take the doe of a seperate piece of property or at a different location and would never shoot a doe in front of a buck just in case

RE: Peaks homework assignment for you
Peak, I hunt smaller woodlots than 35 acres.. ALOT smaller! If you have a 160 running around you better shoot a doe somewhere else. Hunting those small woodlots is unforgiving. Once a mature buck knows your there (and he will long before you think he does) forget about it!
Hunt smart.. hunt with the wind.. low profile.. low pressure and low education are your best bets. |
