What kind of minerals do you use?
 

I mostly use deer cocaine and really thats the only "minerals" i use but i am just curious on what you guys use and where you can buy it or how you make it?

I make my own.

1 part sodium bicarbonate
1 part dicalcium phosphate
2 parts trace mineral

Dig a hole, dump the stuff in, mix it up in the dirt. The "part" can be anything....I use a big coffee can.

Feed store, and it's dirt cheap. You can mix over 100 pounds for less than 30 small bills.

No pics, but yes it works extremely well, especially in the spring and summer. We have 3 of them on our farm and the last time I looked at them they were giant mud holes.....Yes, they work.

I will say if you are looking for a mineral/attractant, this may not be the deal. They seem to lay off these licks in the fall.

Over 50lbs. I just checked it today and it's empty so I'll let you know for sure when I fill it up.

I made something similar to what Cougs has out of those flexible drain extenders. Get a couple of 4 foot sections of those and something that you can put on top as a recepticle (I use a 5 gallon bucket with an hole that meets the drain piece with a lid). Wire tie it all to a tree and you're done.

i use plain old salt blocks, they love to eat the dirt after it melts
