This year's goals

What are your goals for this year? As far as killing deer, seeing more deer, or maybe even getting someone their first deer.

My personal goals this year are:

1) Take 2 does off my property to help ratio out a bit
2) Take a MATURE buck.
3) Help my cousin get his first deer, maybe with archery tackel to boot
4) I'm also going to try to take out a few younger kids to try to get them interested in hunting.

So let's hear yours...

2) Take a MATURE buck.

Will 2 Does really do ANYTHING for your ratio ??? [&:]Only if your population is something like 5 deer? :D

Best of luckwith the "mature" buck! Rare is the bowhunter who will even see a 5 1/2 year old animal during legal shooting hours. Remember though, the KEY to shooting a mature buck is to NOT shoot an immature one! That being said, I respect anyone who sets goals and can stay dedicated and focused on the task. Good luck

I'll be happy with taking anything with my bow, it's my first year out with it.

I'd also like to take my buck in archery or muzzleloader season.

Take my first deer with a bow, and also get my dad his first deer with his Crossbow.

Well I'm not the only one going to be shooting does. My stepdad is going to try to take a couple and our neighbors are aswell.

As far as a mature buck. The mark we usually set is 6pt or better. To put my goals within reason, iI'd be happy with a 3 1/2+ year old.

#1) Have fun every day spent afield this year. Shouldn't be hard to tackle this goal. LOVE TO HUNT!
#2) Take down my first elk with a bow. Came soooo close last year.
#3) Take down a mature buck with an awesome rack. This one has eluded me for years. Don't get me wrong, I've been extremely close, sometimes within 5 yards but something always goes wrong. Maybe this year.
#4) Be with my son when he drops his first bow kill this year! Actually this should be #1! Have a great year everyone.

7 weeks to elk country, can't wait to smell that mountain air again!!

I am hoping to take my first deer this year, whether it be a doe or buck. I am pretty sure I can get a couple does but am going to work hard for a nice antlered deer.
