Had a chance to shoot the X Force

I picked up some arrows today at the shop, and noticed an X Force on the rack. I asked my buddy if I could shoot it, and he set it up really quick. I took a few shots with it and was not overly impressed. Now I did shoot a bare bow with no dampeners or a stabilizer, but man it was like a tuning fork in my hand (have shot many bare bows without the excessive vibration). The hand shock was prevelant and impossible to ignore. Not surprising considering the speed this thing is putting out. The draw cycle started off easy and stacked up towards the end. The valley is very small, this is a bow that if you creeped a bit while waiting on a shot, catching it would be hard. I will tell you this, the speed is there, but in my opinion you are sacrificing comfort and forgiveness with this bow. Just MHO

Shane:

I shot this bow, last week. Your assessment and mine ring similar. The bow I shot was set at 65#'s....and what I couldn't get over was how UNsolid the back wall was. It seemed really "loose", to me.

When I shoot my bow.....the speed of the arrow seems quite evident to the naked eye. I just didn't think this bow was what it was touted to be (the super-speed bow).

I dont know when I shot the X Force I was pretty impressed. I found the draw cycle to be very smooth at 65# and the speed and trajectory was excellent.

I've made the statement a few times. I was impressed with the bow but the only downside is the fact it will about rattle your arm off. I've shot it bare bow and with a stabilizer and the stabilizer helps alot but it still vibrates more than others. You have to remember that this thing is shooting at 350fps. I'm hoping I'll get to play around with the X-Force 7 soon, my shop owner only has RH in atm.

I did'nt like it either, but the new firestorm was a sweet shhoting bow,but was a little too short ata for my preference.

I completely agree. The Firestorm X is the best bow PSE produced this year. I said that in the other X-Force thread too. It's not as fast but a better all around bow and ALOT less vibration.

I shot the x force 7 as well tonight. Great bow, smokin fast as well.

Also I have said this in the past, but if the x forces you guys are shooting has handshock, the bow is not tuned. It's a shame that these bows aren't tuned for customers to shoot, because when the cams are in proper position they really are as handshock free as any other parallel limb bow on the market.

Im going with RJ AND SF on this. VIBRATION????????The wall was soild as a rock.I have shot both the 6 and the 7 and they are as smooth as they come if set up right. Arrows are a big key with this bow,the right spline and a high profile 4in vane seem to fly best at these smokin fast speeds. I shoot 3D with a friend and this bow brought his scorse up buy 20. Iput one on order Mondayand can't wait to set it up and pound arrows. You can bet on one thing for sure THE SPEED WARS ARE BACK!!! Some ones going to try and beat PSE with a 360 bow soon I'll bet on that.Sum it up - SMOOTH, QUIET, SETS IN THE HAND GREAT,SMOKIN FAST!!!!

I recently shot one of the X forces custombuilt by pse at 80 lbsand loved it i was shooting at about 355 actual hunting setup and it was very shootable. It held held very good groups out to 80 yards for me and was a pleasure to shoot. I dont know where people get these bad experiences with hand shock. I guess thats what happens when you switch from a bow shooting 250 to a real bow. I am definatly looking at using one this season

I'll have to say that I wasn't impressed with it either, which I guess if you listen to the 2 talking sphincters, either makes me a rookie with only 35 years of bow shooting experience or now a real man.Oh well I'll stick to my sissy Drenalin.;)

I didn't have any hand shock issues.....but this statement baffles me.

The wall was soild as a rock.
The back wall on the 65#'er I shot was loose as a goose.....lots of play.

Gutshot, So you did'nt like it so that makes me asphincter. I to have been hunting and shooting bows for over 35 years and that does not make me a expert nor does it you.The man thing-point taken. Not one time will you take 3 people have them shot the same bow and they will all like it. Not all bow shops take the time to set a bow up the proper way or they just don't know how to. Seems to me that if you don't like it,its junk and nobody else seems to know what they are talking about.Oh and by the way good luck with that Drenalin, we have been pulling them out of the box with split limbs. But what do I know??????

And for the record.....the x-force I shot belonged to the PSE rep. He happened to be in the shop, last week....and the shop owner asked me to shoot the guy's bow. I would assume it was set-up properly.....but I have no idea. I only shot it 3 times.....and I only shot it at the paper/tune - Chrono station.

I have shot alot of bows, set them up etc. No rookie here. Wether or not it was set up correctly (tuned) I didn't ask. All I am saying is that the one I shot was like a tuning fork. I have shot many bare bows with no stabilizers, accessories to make them quiet. I always start this way when shooting bows to see how well they do right out of the box. This particular X-Force had alot of vibration in it. Other bowsI have shot didn't have nearly this much under similar shooting conditions.

GMMT- They put a soft piece of rubber on the string stopper which I have seen fly off. What we did was turned down a soild alum stopper the same dia as the rubber one and the wall seemed to be right on. You got to shotthis thing right off the wall,if you try to go into its almost 0 valley it will want to go.Also a string supressor seems to tone it down a bit. SR77- Im sure your right about the the vibration on this bow but you should give another a try.Why was it like that??????????? I hope when mine comes in I dont have any issues!!!! I have set up about a half dozen of these bows and can not say I have had any issues. No complates either. Myself I like the 7 give that one a try. I waited to see how the others did with theirs before I ordered mine,I hate to buy somehthing in its first year, they seem to always improve after that. But Im going for it anyway. GOOD LUCK!!

Have you guys considered that this bow MIGHT not be for everyone?

ABSOLUTELY! I knew I wasn't gonna buy one. I also know my Bowtech Allegiance likely has me spoiled as far as the back wall thing. It was the first thing I noticed when I shot it (how solid the bowtech was). I realized how soft my old bow was, too.

I was just shooting itbecause the shop owner wanted my opinion of it. And I told him....right there in front of the rep.The only things I noticed were the back wall and the feeling I got that it didn't appear to be that "fast/quick" (though we didn't shoot it through the chrono).

I'm sure it's a great bow.

GMMAT I hope you shoot a 30-31inch draw because Tony V. is a big man and that is the PSE rep in our area.

All I know is that I shot both the x-force and the firestorm off the shelf and as far as to which bow was the smoothist it was no contest The firestorm won hands down,oh and by the way we did not "tweak"ether bow before I shot them to make them shoot smoother.

Honestly, I wouldn't buy one either. Unless the X-Force 7 is ALOT better than the regular. Who knows though, I'm finished buying bows this year, but we'll see what's in store for next year. With me going to work at this new shop I'm going to have the Hoyt, Reflex, PSE, Browning, and AR influence. So assuming I'm still working by then, it may be hard for me to pass a discounted bow. I could very well be shooting a Hoyt next year, but it's going to be hard for me to get away from the Ross smoothness.

Also, as far as a back wall. I honestly don't pay much attention to the backwall. Today's modern bows the back wall isn't as much of an issue, or atleast not enough of one to worry about sacrificing accuracy. Just my opinion though. It's a comfort thing, shoot what you like.

Cougar, 3 out of the 5 bows you will be working with are made by PSE. The only differene between the 6 n 7 is one will be slower and you might not hit your arm as much. I know the x force is a great bow and Hoyt and Bowtech will be stepping it up, you wait and see.

I know PSE, AR, and Browning are all one. I had a Browning last year and hated it.

Coug, when you first shot the x force you said that you like it. Not sure what change your mind. Your not hurting my feelings, like you said everyone is different.I tend to like quick, quiet, flat shooting bows. I like to only use one pin for hunting. My x force sighted in at 20 yds shoots 4 inches low at 40. :D

I liked the X-Force, it just has alot of vibration. Putting a stabilizer helped it out ALOT. For right now I'm liking the smooth drawing Ross's. I'm not saying I wont ever own one because who knows what may happen next year, but I'm done buying bows this year.

Sportsfann...

This guy wasn't big. Our OLD PSE rep was a big guy....can't rememebr his name, but I used to shoot some 3D when he was in the shop. He has a bunch of mounts in our shop (African game and NA game). This guy was smaller....but I know he is our new rep. He had the shirt and the van ;).
