Free recurve bow
Just posted this in the traditional forum but no one was on there. I had a friend give me a recurve bow this weekend that he found in an attic. The bow is a Ben Pearson Puma. It appears to be in great shape save for t he string. Anyone know anything about this bow? I'm gonna get a string made for it and get some arrows and start shooting it. Don't think I'll ever hunt with it though (probably would never be able so shoot it well enough:), don't even know if it is suitable for hunting.) Any info will be appreciated

RE: Free recurve bow
Go here to find out everything you'd ever want to know about your old Pearson. The Puma doesn't show up until the 1966 catalog, just to save you some time.

RE: Free recurve bow
contact LBR ( mod for the trad forum ) or at his website http://www.recurves.com/
he'll do your string better than anyone as for the bow ? it will shoot well for you assuming the limbs aren't twisted or the lams damaged from excessive heat, abuse etc. You can look down the limbs and see twists, when strung you can really tell more though and you can straighten them with the "hot water" method ask questions on that traditional forum, they will be answered |
RE: Free recurve bow
Thanks guys. I will contact LBR 'cause I want to get a nice string made. I checked the bow out and like I said it looks to be in great shape. Not warped or anything that I can see anyway. I need to find out what spine arrows I need and things like that. Totally different than my compound, or at least it seems that way to me. Thanks again
