Cheap feeder!

I made a very cheap gravity feeder and it is working great. Thought I would share it.

I took a plastic 55 gallon barrel that I got for nothing and one of the $20 feeder funnels from cabelas. Then I cut 3 small holes and there you go. No big deal if it gets stolen, no sound to scare off the deer and the deer absolutely love it. I got 230 pics in a week and a half.

Good idea I used to make them the same way with pvc pipes and strap them to base of tree.I noticed there was not a top on it,if i can make a suggestion it would be a good idea to get one,had a possom get in above mentioned feeder and could not get out.Messy!

Yep. The lid was in the grass. I took a photo of the insides.

I wanted something that would hold quite a bit of corn between refills

RE: Cheap feeder!

I made one today but I made it differently. We redid our deck about a year ago and we used those white plastic railings and we had a few of the 4x4 covers. SO I took a 4ft section and a 2ft section and strung and taped them together, (wanted it to be sectioned so it would give with the tree). Then I took a 2.5 gallon bucket and cut a 2inch diameter hole out of the bottom, which is smaller than the 4inch by 4inch pipe. We then mounted the bucket on top, and drill 2 holes in the front every 3 feet and mounted it to the tree using bungees. I should have pics in a few days.

what was cool about my feeder is I didn't have to buy one single thing. Everything I used was something I had, except the corn of course.
