Kids on Here!

Wow there seems to be a lot of kids on here that think they know everything! The start a lot of bs too! Whats everyone elses take on the matter.
Very annoying in my opinion!

And when I say kids...I mean like teenagers!

first, how old are you? second i think it s great kids are on here, you cant tell me when were a kid you didnt think you knew everything. kids are the future of hunting and one day their generation will have the power to take it away if they want to. if you dont like it than avoid it. and it seams to me you havent spent alot of time on this website.

RE: Kids on Here!

My take is that I rarely see any younger people on here starting trouble. If you're older as I am assuming you are, I'd think you'd embrace our hunting youth and try to help them along instead of starting a thread with the intent of bashing them.

Whitetail Expert 07-07-2007 10:52 AM

RE: Kids on Here!

I never intended to bash them. I said, or should have said, many of them get on here and start problems on other peoples threads, and act like they know everything about hunting. Just because someones 'join date' is as old as others doesnt mean you know more. I have spent a lot of time on here in previous years. Dont let my 'join date' fool ya if thats what you are basing me off of. And I am 28 by the way. No Im no old man but I did learn respect at a very young age! And thats all I am referring too...respect! I have no problem with the future of tomorrow being on here but I do think there should be a respect factor as well.

wvOHIOfan 07-07-2007 10:55 AM

RE: Kids on Here!

My response was not based upon your " join date " but rather your seemingly negative attitude towards some of the younger folks that post here. I simply havent saw the disrespectful posting that you are talking about but that's not to say that it hasnt happened.

I am one of those kids that you say cause trouble. In all of the time I have been on here I have not seen what you are talking about.

I havent seen a lot of bashing from the younger generation... When I was a kid (teenager) I thought I knew it all as well. Although one thing that I do see is the younger generation getting caught up in having to have the high priced equipment and thinking they have to keep up with the next person. But thats a lesson they have to learn on their own. You learn by mistakes. I see more conflict between the older guys to be honest. Thats cause they cant respect others opinions and have to add their 2 cents.

I think BigJim said it all. I understand, in a way, where you are coming from. But we definetely shouldnt be bashing younger people just because of seniority. Show us an example of who or what youre talking about.

Im a kid on here and i dont act like i know everything, but i may in fact know alot about some things, maybe even more than you "expert". You dont know me or know anything about me....i could be the best hunter in the world....you dont know

:)

As a fellow 28 year old, I must say your opinion of the teenagers on this board is wrong. I am new to bowhunting, and have received some great pointers, info, and insight from the younger generation (i.e. Dan). I have never once felt the younger guys on here think they know it all or come across with an attitude that would imply that. Due to the fact that a younger generation of people use the internet much more than older folks, I would get used to seeing them here and anywhere else you may visit.....

RE: Kids on Here!

btw i was being sarcastic.....I come to this board to learn about hunting and talk about it as well.

RE: Kids on Here!

We do have some younger people on this forum, but I don't think they cause too much trouble. I don't always follow the logic or agree with everything all the time. However for the most part they are good kids and mean well.

I have been places that are MUCH worse. We do have a few in various different forums that are bit over confident in my personal opinion, but they are entitled to their say I guess. I just let it go, or correct them when I think they are wrong.

The majority of the actual problems I see get caused are from guys that are in their late 20's up to 50 year olds.

Do I like having all the "kids" here, honestly not really but I can live with it and some of them I actually like. It's not my site so I guess it isn't my choice is it. On the other hand I love seeing the younger guys and gals interested in archery and hunting, nothing bad about that at all. Sort of a double edged sword I guess.

I guess I'm just getting old grumpy. So I guess that makes it MY problem, not theirs;).

sometimes kids cause problems, some times adults who should know better cause problems too. I don't see an excess of kids stirring things up, some are annoying yes, but you just ignore them and move on.

I think its great, but I just happen to be a "know it all" teenager myself (maybe not the know it all part). I think that this board can help kids learn not just about hunting, but about life(no i'm not a preacher). It can help make kids more mature when they are around adults and can show them respect when they talk to the....let's say "addictities":D on this board. I think as long as the kids are mature enough to listen and maybe learn a few things without causing battles, I think its great that they are on here, I know I have learned a lot. Oh by the way if you dont like it here because of the kiddies like me you can head over to.....you know......but I suggest you pull up a chair and stay a while.

I certainly understand the " know it all" attitude of teenagers. I have two.

But I see very little on this board. It is actually the adults that start a lot of the crap on here. Heck.....I probably stir the pot myself from time to time:D

Well since you were once a "Teenager" I'm sure you'll agree..... they do have all the answers. It's a passage of life.[8D] Who was it Will Rodgers or was it Red Skelton that said something like, "when I was18 I thought my father was the stupidest person I'd ever met. When I became 25 I was amazed at how much he'd learned and how muchwiser he had become in a short 7 years". Nyuck Nyuck Nyuck

I could be wrong with this statement but the majority of the problems started here are started by the older folk. You can also look at it this way. teenagers could be doing a lot more to get into trouble. The way I see it, hunting helps keep us out of trouble. Do you have an alternative we could be doing?

PA you have a pm.

This is an interesting thread.

I don't see much of a difference between teenagers and old people on this site. They both think they know everything.

Well then that should go for you too... right? Just because were young dosent mean we dontdeserve a certian level of respecttoo. Were all here for the same reason. To learn and talk about all diffrent aspects of hunting, fishing, and being outdoors. That goes for people that are 15 and even 28. I know that I have helped people on here and gotten help as well. Im not saying teenagers do know everything but sometimes they might know a little more than you. So what, take it in and benifit from it. Good Hunting.

I agree. Things might go a little smoother if age was excluded from the forums. Just think of everyone as another hunter on the same level as you. As I said in the other kid rant thread I am a novice hunter so when someone asks a hunting related question I am more likely to just sit back and read.
