RE: What do you do?

Currently I am an environmental engineer at a consulting firm. I'm new there but once the season comes I get out of work by 330 and fridays I'll be out by noon. Plus a week during the rut.

Previous jobs I've held allowed for a lot of hunting time although they may have not been the best jobs in my field. This one seems to be a decent blend of good job but still allows me to hunt.

I'm a regional sales manager for a software company that develops a professional services automation product that is geared towards the IT service industry specifically. I am new there, been there for 2 months now but absolutely love it..........best job I have everhad by far. I really hope to build a career here and stay till I retire.

I only get 2 weeks vacation, but after December I am free to move anywhere I want in the country and work from home as long as I have high speed internet access and a phone. My hopes are to move into the sticks in either central NY or bradford county PA so I can live somewhere I can walk off the back porch and into a treestand.

I also work part time at a local archery shop, and am involved in a family owned organic grassfed beef/pork/lamb business.

Surprised you wouldn't move to Colorado, Montana, Idaho, Illinois or someplace like that, Matt.

I would absolutely love to. The thought has crossed my mind so many times. If I were to do it I would be in northwest Montana. The one BIG thing that prevents me from doing that for a few years to get it out of my system is my beautiful 2 year old sister. I just couldn't bring myself to miss out on her growing up.........

Central, NY or Bradford County, PA would allow me to finally get out of the suburbs and into the best hunting in the northeast, as well as be much closer to family.

Central NY or PA will have to do.

I'm a firefighter. The schedule leaves me plenty of time to hunt, which I need because the public land I hunt requires a lot of time to be successful.

Self employed pest control business owner for 23 years. Starting a new pest control business in CO in a month.
Good to see another pest control operator/owner on here. I am also the new, as of Jan. 1, '07, owner of my families pest control business. Been in business over 50 years and really do enjoy the self-employed aspect of it. I make a decent wage, but can't say I'll ever get rich at it. Creating my own schedule during the hunting season is the most rewarding aspect. The job pays well enough to be able to hunt out west, Colorado & Wyoming so far. It's great to see these high school kids on here.

You beat me to it... I'm a medical student and my day starts at 4:30am and usually doesn't get over until 7pm. Leaves little time for anything but dinner and sleep.

high school student here. two more years and im out though. Im taking dual credit college courses this year for first block though, which is awesome. They only have class twice a week, which leaves me three mornings to hunt because on those mornings i dont have to be at school till 930.

So for the next two years ill have all weekends, everyday afterschool, and three mornings per week.I CANT WAIT! lol

in the future i plan on law school after my cousin just passed the bar exam hes talked me into it, sounds too sweet to pass up.

RE: What do you do?

I'll be a Junior in high school this year. As of right now I'm working 2 jobs. One job I don't get paid for because it's just purely for my college resume', which I volunteer in the Central Sterile Proccessing branch in the hospital. (sterilizing surgery tools). That's Tuesday's and Thursdays, don't get paid for it but it should pay off in a few years. My actual job is working at a fairly large welding shop. I help load/unload trucks, package stuff to ship, paint, sweep, build skids, and do whatever I'm told to do. That job wont be lasting too much longer because i have to find something I can do after school. Might be getting a job at the local archery shop as a matter of fact. ;). Depends on what my hours will be come hunting season. Since I do the majority of my hunting near my house it's not hard to go do an afternoon sit. For the most part I'm a weekend warrior though.

Registered Nurse on a Bone Marrow Transplant floor. I work a 7/70 schedule, which means I work seven days in a row followed by being off seven days in a row. Throw in 240 vacation hours a year and I am off over 29 weeks a year. Being that I work with all females, I never have trouble getting days off in Nov. And if I want to relocate to say Iowa, I would have to problem getting a job.

I am a software engineer for a large government contractor. I've been at this job for the past 9 years. It's growing old, but it pays the bills. I basically have to work 80 hours in a two week period, so I can be flexible during hunting season.

I am an owner of a Property and Casualty Insurance Agency,my partner and I have 16 employee's.Setting aside time to hunt is no easy task.My wife is A special Education Chair at a local high school.
Over the last few years I have been leaving my business early on Friday afternoons to bow hunt, last year I added wednesday afternoons. It is a serious effort for me to free up time to hunt. There are many times that I can't go on my designated days because of business committments. You do what you have to do.I typically get out 20 to 25 times for a morning or afternoon hunt during bow season and hunt about 14 days during rifle season.

I am an Executive Chef but am currently working as a general manager for a corporate cafeteria. M-F 7 to 3. It is a 15 to 25 minute walk from my front door to my tree stands. When you add in a week of vacation in November thats is a lot of time in the stand. Now if PA will just pass Sunday hunting all will be good
