What kind of foam for 3-D targets

My cousin and I are going to try and make our own targets but we are wondering what kind of foam to use and where we can get it? Suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

thanks

I have heard of people using insulation from Home Depot, Lowe's, or another hardware store. It is pretty cheap too.
