OK guys, so is it that knarled old oak, or that nice thick pine, maybe it is a big old beech. Any species, doesn't matter, just curious what all of you prefer, given a choice in your area. Around where I hunt, it is usually cherry trees or oaks. Oaks being what I love the best. Will be hunting in alot of pines this fall in NYwhich are great for concealment, very excited.

I like using big trees, 2 feet wide at least, to conceal my movement a little, species doesnt matter.

The biggest tree that my stand will fit on. usually some kind of an oak. once in a while a beech. i dont like to use my climber on a beech though cause the bark isnt the easiest for the stand to bite into.

The oak I've killed 3 deer and 2 pigs out of. It is in an oak grove that sticks out like a finger into a pasture. Acorns every fall and prey every fall.

Osage orange is my favorite by far when you actually get the stand in them. They are usually so gnarled up you have to use screw in steps to get up them which are next to impossible to get in or out. Then trimming them sucks too. But once they are done they are about as fool proof as you get.
