Curious Question

I figured someone on here might know the answer or be able to hypothesize something interesting.

My buddy and I are having a conversation about the purpose of things. So bees pollenate flowers which give fruit and birds eat the fruit to distribute the seeds. What is the purpose of a mosquito?

Mosquitos also pollinate plants, although not nearly as much as bees. They also spread disease, which although that may not seem like a real purpose, nature has a lot of checks and balances. Only the strongest survive and all that jibber-jabber.
