Should counter count what you read? not post

Seems that for the most part we look at a persons number of posts and infer a little more smarts on someone with 1500 posts than we would if they only had 150. I know that's not true with all people or in all cases but by and large it happens.
Maybe the counter should show what you read instead, that would be more usefull to me. I know several people (not on this board) that talk a lot but dont know much, but I dont know anyone who is a voracious reader and lacks smarts. Maybe the counter should count both what you read and what you post.

I don't even look at it. I don't see where it would be an idication of anything other than they like to post a lot. I have seen people new to a board have more posts than it took me to get in a year.

Then there are others that you rarely see post, but when they do I suggest you listen. I don't know about on this forum, but on some of others you can click on their name and it gives you the option of seeing some of their recent posts. This is a pretty good way of telling if someone is serious or just goofing around, or sometimes just stirring the pot, so to speak.

Another thing to take into consideration is that archery is not an exact science. Many different things work well for many different people. You could ask a question and get 10 different answers. And in some cases none of them will be the wrong answer. You just have to figure out which is the best for you and your situaion.

I have seen some other sites, like computer tech sites, that let you rate the member, the answers and the overall thread. That way when someone answers your question you can see how many people they have helped, and how much help was given.

Which is ok, but really does not tell you how much knowledge someone has, just that they like to help others. For all we know Chuck Adams could visit this site under a alias( I personally don't like handles) every now and then and give advice. You would look at his track record and say "Wow, he has only posted 30 times in the past year, maybe he is blowing smoke up my ass?). You never really know do you. Of course this would all depend on whether you cared what Chuck says or not.

It was petty to even bring it up. Time could be better spent elsewhere.

I don't think it was petty at all Cargo. Have you seen some of the other posts that pop up every now and then. You had an opinion and you expressed it. As did I. I hope you didn't think I was slamming you or trying to demean you in any way. That was not the case I assure you. I was just giving you and others my take on the subject.

Have a good Holiday, what's left of it anyway.

LOL....how can you assume just because someone posted 1500 times he has something more interesting or important to say? the person that posted 1500 times at one time had posted 150 times on his way to the much wiser1500 times. i've seen plenty of peeps that talk too much but say absolutely nothing...hehe

Ahhhh.... the wisdom just flowing from we blabber mouths. Of course the more we talk the more we know. And we're prettier too. You lowly folks with only a few posts are so duhhhhhhhhhhh... and ugly. But it doesn't matter.... we still will include you in all group hugs.
