Would you sacrifice.....
Speed for FOC?
I am due for another set of arrows. I can get my GT 5575's with a 10.72% FOC that travel at 284fps. Or... I can get Carbon Express Maxima 350's with a 12.96% FOC that travel 278.9 fps. |
RE: Would you sacrifice.....
I would take the higher FOC. . .just my opinion though.
The speed you sacrifice is pennies in comparison what you might see in improved broadhead flight. |
RE: Would you sacrifice.....
Whats the weight difference?? I'd take the one that had more energy downrange! But leaning towards a higher FOC.

RE: Would you sacrifice.....
Yeah the Maximas man!
|
RE: Would you sacrifice.....
Or you could simply get a set of 20gr screw in weights and a weight tool and add 20grs to the front of your GT's to bring the FOC back up a bit if you want or back down if you want a bit more speed...........IMO neither FOC or speed measurement you have listedvaries enough to even worry about them.
Pick the straighter more consistent arrow. |
RE: Would you sacrifice.....
With numbers that close, I would opt for the Maxima's.....for a few reasons. First, their tolerances are incredible. Second, they are perhaps the finest arrows I've ever shot, though I will admit I have no first hand experience w/ Gold Tip.

RE: Would you sacrifice.....
I have owned gt XT's and they are excellent arrows but i havent owned the pros. I own a Maxima and i like it a lot too. The Pros have a 1 grain tolerancy and .001 consistincy and the maximas are 2 and 2.5 i belive and i am wondering which arrows of those you would prefer?

RE: Would you sacrifice.....
CE's would give me 5.787 gr/lb....GT's would give me 5.426 gr/lb.
CE's would be overspined by 0.039. GT's would be perfect. |
RE: Would you sacrifice.....
Help me understand. I just checked my FOC for the first time ever, and it was 13%. I have read articles that say under 10 is good and i have read other articles that say anywhere from 7-18. I shoot really well with the ones i have so is it really that big a deal?

RE: Would you sacrifice.....
The archers that taught me said 10-15% is the range. 11% is the sweet spot.
