sighting in bow
I have a 5 pin sight on my bow, which i can make it a 3 pin if i like. i have the top pin set at 10 yards, third pin at 20 and plan on putting the fifth at 30 yards. my questions is will the second and third pin, if directly between the others, be the half way mark (ex. will the second pin be 15 yards because between first and third pin?) If not, is it easy to make a 15 yards shot if i just put my target in between the 10 and 20 yard pin. I would prefer having just the 3 pins, but if 5 is necessary to have all my yardages, i will do it

RE: sighting in bow
I think that having that many pins at that short of a distance is going to cause problems for you. You should not need more than one pin for every ten yards. I have a 5 pin sight also and my pins are set at 20,30,40,50,60. I think that your pins are going to be to close to one another and cause you problems and blur together especially in bright sunlight. I hope this helps you out

I also have my pins at 20, 30, 40, 50, and 60. Could almost get by with 25, 40, 50, and 60.; as my 20 and 30 yard pins are real close together. My daughter's 20 lb. Genesis needs pin spacing about like what you are describing. Ten yard pin is about 1/2" above the 20 yard pin.

RE: sighting in bow
What kind of bow, arrow and most importantly what speed are you shooting? Are you hunting outwest? Whats your game?
I hunt in the thick swamps of the east. I have three pins on my hunting rig...set at 25 (which is basically the only one I will ever use), 35 and 45. My 25 is about an inch high at 10 and an inch low at 30. The 25 and 35 are almost too close together for comfort. |
RE: sighting in bow
I currently shoot with three pins and am moving down to two 25 and 35. It all depends on what you like best / what you need (maximum shot yardage, ect.). Just use the number of pins that makes you feel the most confident and comfortable.

RE: sighting in bow
I have 3 pins 20, 30 and 40 yards. I wont shoot over 40 yards and will hardly shoot that. I want the best percentage shot I can get...

I also have only 3 pins... 20, 30, 40.. I can shoot 50 but I'm not going to risky a 50 yd. shot at a monster.. Too me its too risky.
