Just know, that we all learn through making mistakes.

The more mistakes you make the more you learn:D

But seriously, we've all been there.

Its funny. I've archery hunted whitetails many years and messed up great shot opportunitys, it seems that once you screw up, that mistake is burnt into your memory. It is less likely you will make it again but there is always more mistakes to make;)

Well, a light rain was falling and winds were light and in my face. I chose to hunt a stand over a feeder and wallow. Conditions were perfect. The temp was about 85, the best anyone could hope for during late June in Texas. At about 7:30, well before dark I spotted movement. It was a black boar weighing about 80lbs. He was rather skittish, stopping in some brush with his nose in the air. He was about 20 yds out and only his head was clear. He was facing the wallow, broadside to me with his head on the right. Slowly he moved a few steps out. He was in the open but I couldn't draw without taking a chance of getting busted. I waited for what seemed an eternity. Finally he took a few more steps. I couldn't ask for a better shot opportunity, 20 yds broadside and with his head behind a bush! Thats when it all fell apart. I drew the recurve and let fly the 2018 Gamegetter tipped with a 125gr Magnus 2 blade. All my practice went out the window. I didn't anchor or aim the way I do in practice. In the backyard I do pretty well at 20 yds. Not on this shot. I hit the ground behind his right foot and off he ran. I suck! I'll try again Sunday night and try to remember to put my practice to use and not just fling arrows.
This is the second time I have shot at a pig with this bow. The first one was months ago and I really wasn't ready. I shot over a pig that day. This time I thought I was ready and shot under. 3rd times a charm right?
Remember guys it is a recurve. Different ballgame. I did take back up a recurve two seasons ago and yet to take it out on game. 20 Yd max for me also. But you had fun yes.

Relax, TX... I can introduce you to a guy who got so wired up that he missed a 150 lb hog at FIVE YARDS with a recurve. Stuff happens.

Heck, I mess up with a compound.

Recurve is definitely a different ball game.

"I Suck". Although refreshingly honest, you might be a little too hard on yourself. This recurve stuff ain't easy, and when you finally put it together it will be a great personal reward.

Sorry to hear that, but thats part of hunting with traditional equipment. It makes it that much more challenging!

Put it this way...once you too finally lay the smack down on one your success will be that much sweeter!!! :D
