Germ,

That's not my approach and if someone is not the random weekend warrior then I might
spread the "gospel" of QDM.

My main point was that "some folks just can't be reached."
Their hearts are just not ready to receive (PT understands ).

I am not talking about spreading the gospel of QDM either.

I am talking about spreading the gospel "we are conservationalist" as for why we hunt. Because it is clear the majority of hunters are hunting for their reasons and that is fine. Just say so

I understand what you are saying and I give you an AMEN

Attention MEZ.

From what I have read, from what I understand, and from what I have been discussing and hearing, a balanced herd is a healthier herd. If I am wrong correct me please. Letting bucks get older and shooting Does in time willhelp balance the herd.

How is it benefiting you if the limit for the season is one buck? But I shoot three. You still see bucks every year to shoot. What does it hurt? There is a reason for laws.

I stated in another postregulations and laws are in place for a reason and some we do not understand until later. The old commercial hunters probably hated the limit laws. But it worked.

Why not try to make something good better? And it is not up to me. And as always I will state, Just My Opinion.

I am a conservationist, but it is not why I hunt.
But being otudoors is one of the reasons I like hunting.

Are we allowed to say "kill" again or are we still stuck on "harvest"?

If its a doe your talking about then by all means "Kill IT" is the proper terminology.

Because its not about the "antlers"

Certainly education would help many understand the goalsof Q.D.M.But many more just do not care, they have jobs ,family's & many more of todays problems on their plate. They consider a weekend of deer hunting as nothing more than a break from life's little difficulties.

Just keep in mind its not all about the horns.................
This statement is dead nuts on, and to Germ's point, not every hunter is a "conservationalist" nor does every hunter work in the industry. For many it's simply a past time, hobby or something fun do do on days offand yes these types of grown men do enjoy killing a fork horn, spike, yearling anything really.

If its not about the horns....then why does someone shoot a buck just because it has them?

Never have gotten a good answer to this question.

Kill'em all LBH

conservation is one reason i hunt also, but not the main either Like I said lets start being honest. I just get tired(here in MI) we play that card as are deer numbers are out of control in the SLP

I know this was not directed to me rybo, but from my experiences this is what I see.

In many of the counties that I grew up hunting, does were not allowed to be shot. There was not a doe season. It had to be a buck. There are still counties in WV where you cannot kill does. So, if you are hunting and you want meat, the only legal thing to do is shoot a buck..........big or small......really does not matter and the only thing considered when the trigger is pulled is if it is a legal buck or not.

What has happened over time is the rules might have changed in some counties, but shooting a "buck" is still the goal for most...........big or small.

TDM(tradtional deer mamangement) runied one of the best hunting locations in midwest. Remember 40 years ago all the folks from Iowa, Ill and Ohio use to come to the UP(Michigan) to hunt.

The last 15 years of baiting, shooting 1.5 bucks and not taking enough does led to the deer yards being destroyed in some areas. We went on a kill them all mode to get the number in check. We are still years away from having hunting like we did in the past.

IMO
Baiting was the number one factor for the down fall of the UP. 1.5 year old bucks are the first to go most of the time when baiting is used. Add are mulligan buck tag system and you have all the ingredents for a huge mess. Which is what we have now, but we're conservationalistin MI

My point is we need to find some common ground, I am pretty sure we can

Or we can expect to see what has happen to MI to otherstates
