Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
Tried to anyways. It was a 29" draw at approx 70lbs. I got it probably .25 to .4 of the way drawn and said....nope...too much for me. Didn't even try to break the cams over.
Granted, I have a 26" draw and am currently pulling 65lbs but it just wasn't happening today. I just wanted to try it out for myself. It wasn't too bad until I got to that sticking point and then the "weight" hit like a ton of bricks. No way I'd be interested in that during the cool/cold mornings of a fall hunt. To each their own though I guess. Not bashing...just posting my 2 cents worth. |
RE: Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
All that speed has to come from somewhere. You might notice that Mathews bows ain't nearly as fast as Bowtech or even Hoyt....but they draw much smoother....well....thats why. Hard to have your cake and eat it too. But, I'd rather have a "slow" bow at 270 than a fast bow at 330 I couldn't draw.
At 26"...its pretty rough on you to find speed. I know that Bowtech makes a bow thats designed specifically for shorter draw archers that is supposed to be pretty nice. I think HCA and Elite do as well. |
RE: Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
Well said Swamp, If a nice buck comes walking in I would never have any trouble pulling back a 100lbs bow. If the buck stays out at 40yds hes done. rather have the speed and flat shooting, and be a little harder to pull back. Time to eat your wheaties Midwest.

I had no problem yesterday drawing back the X-Force set at 70lbs. Its a very smooth bow and quiet. Id buy one if I could afford it. :D

RE: Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
A 26in draw tryn to pull a 29 at 70lbs is gonna be pretty tough. I pull mine with no problem at all and just switched from a Mathews SQ2. I don't think I could pull a 31 inch at 70lbs.

RE: Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
The X force at 32 inch, that would be 1 fast SOB.

RE: Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
my o4 model Bowtech pro 40 dually is shooting around 315 with a 400 grain arrow at 29 inch draw. I am 58 years old and don't have a problem with it.
I've got new 70 pound limbs from Bowtechlast year I may just have to put on some 60 pounders just so I can slow it down enough to shoot ASA tournaments. But the nice thing about having all that speed for hunting you can misjudge yardage and still be in the vitals. I don't have any problem shooting at something 60 yards away. |
RE: Pulled a PSE X-Force today...
Well said rev. Shooting 325 now with a 352 gr arrow. 10-40 yds really don't even have to adjust for it. 28inch draw. I will blow through any shoulder I hit if I make a sloppy shot.
