I quit smoking two weeks ago today. Smoked for 11 years before I quit. I am not having a real hard time with it so far. I smoked about a third of a pack a day, so maybe I don't count as a hard core smoker.

Best of luck to all of you quiters.
You can do.

Smokin is a bad habbit. I have never smoked but my parents used to and when they quit they put all their money that they WOULD HAVE spent on cigs into a savings account. The money adds up really quick! Then the bought a hot tub! :D

You have it licked now! I smoked for 12 years! It has been a year since I have smoked. The first couple of weeks were the hardest, but it gets alot easier!

I use to put mint flavoring on toothpicks, and straws help too! I also thought of how much money I could spend on hunting equipment!! Just a couple of ideas for ya!

Congratulations! if you need any help let me know!!

Rich

Use the extra cash to stock up on cigarettes. You'll need them when you start smoking again...

Just kidding, congrats!

RE: I QUIT

It is a tuff thing to do. Once the body is over the withdrawls of nicotine the only hard part is the addiction of having the actual smoke in your hand. This october will be three years for me. Good luck and keep at it don't quit quitting.

RE: I QUIT

I quit in April of 96.

Best thing I ever did.

Sunflower seeds will help with the habit of needing something to do.I would find myself reaching into my shirtpocket for a smoke a couple years after I quit.Didn't really want a smoke but the habit was strong and hard to break.

Now there's a great reason to quit. My wife and I are quiting this together so I pretend to be strong for her. Deep down I admire her for not wavering.

The BIGGEST reason we quit is our kids. Alyssa - 10 and Alex - 8 were repeatedly asking us "DO YOU WANT TO DIE???" every time one of us would light up in front of them. We never smoked in the house so it was always outside where the whole neighborhood could hear them.

My kids go to a private Catholic school and the faculty drills it into the kids how bad it is to smoke. And man , are they nasty about it.
Try taking a drag when your child is looking you in the eye asking if you want to die.

I went cold turkey and got off the cancer sticks 30 years ago. Even after all those years, I still get an ocassional urge for a smoke. It gets easier to ignore though, as time goes by.

Snuff was a LOT harder to quit than cigs, but I whipped that'n a couple of years ago. Watching my brother in law die of throat cancer made quitting a lot easier.

You guys are a bunch of quiters!

Haven't you ever heard of "sticking it out"?

"Going gets tough the tough get going"?

"light'em if you've got'em"?

Doesn't any of this mean anything?

Quiters...

I just quit 7 weeks ago. Think its permanant this time. I quit before, once almost a year but now I got kids.
My oldest ones almost 11 & I couldn't look at him anymore with a cigerette in my mouth.

Anyway, just dont smoke. Its easy once you make that decision.;) Just gotta really want it.

RE: I QUIT

DUDE,
That's the truth.
Kids and the commitment.

Today has been a little tough. I am feeling that anxiety thing in my throat. It comes and goes, and it sucks.

I believe I'm past the hardest part. The faster bow season gets here the better. I never smoke while hunting so all day sits will be in order. I've never been able to do it because I got a cig. attack and who know's what I was missing during the rut. We will see this year.

RE: I QUIT

Congratulations!!!

I know what you are going through. Not that I ever smoked but my wife quit (after numerous attempts) 2 years ago after smoking for over 20 years.

Keep tough!

The lord was involved in me to quit chewing in 1990. I used his name in vain everytime I forked over the money as the price kept going up.;)
